The grain of the wood isn’t something Daniel Rudy has to work around. It becomes part of the artwork.

Through wood block relief printing, WoodEndeavor combines carved imagery with the organic shapes and growth rings already present within the material. The natural character of each piece of wood becomes another element in the finished design.

It’s an approach that lets craftsmanship and nature share the canvas.

Bill van Gilder makes pottery with the expectation that someone will eventually pick it up and use it.

That relationship between maker, object, and owner is an important part of his work. Using soft clays, a slow momentum kick wheel, and firing processes that allow flame to contribute to the finished surface, Bill creates pottery where subtle variations are part of the appeal.

These are pieces made to become part of everyday routines, not simply sit on a shelf.

Before Willow Oaks Craft Cider reaches a glass, its story has already been unfolding for years.

Certified organic American heirloom apples grown on the farm become the foundation for small-batch, farmhouse-style ciders. The process is intentionally patient, with cider that is barrel aged, unfiltered, made without added sulfites, and crafted to preserve the character of the fruit and farm.

From orchard to bottle, Willow Oaks is a reminder that craft can begin with the land itself.

The marks left by a wood-fired kiln aren’t simply decoration. They’re a record of what happened inside the fire.

Tameria Martinez works with porcelain and wild stoneware, allowing flame and ash to move across her vessels and create patterns, textures, and depth during firing. She describes the process as capturing or “freezing” the movement of flame on the surface.

That means each finished piece carries something that can’t simply be recreated on the next one.

A ceramic artist can shape the clay, but a wood-fired kiln gets a say in the finished piece too.

Kirke Martin of M4 Studios creates functional and sculptural ceramics that are transformed as flame and ash move through the kiln. Those natural interactions create distinctive surfaces and textures, making the firing itself part of the creative process.

It’s a collaboration between artist, material, and fire that ensures every finished piece has its own character.

There’s something remarkable about watching a material as strong as steel become something entirely new.

At Tannhäuser Forge, Kevin O’Hern draws on decades of experience as a farrier and blacksmith to create forged metalwork rooted in traditional skills. His craftsmanship has also contributed to authentic arms made for Renaissance fairs and reproduction pieces created for gaming and film.

Heat, force, precision, and experience all have a role in what emerges from the forge.

A landscape can look completely different from one moment to the next.

That changing relationship between light and shadow is part of what keeps Kesra Hoffman painting. Using primarily gouache and acrylic, she explores the colors, shapes, skies, water, and landforms she encounters both close to home and during her travels.

Her paintings capture more than scenery. They preserve the mood and energy of a particular moment and place.

There’s a direct connection between the care that happens on the farm and what Caprikorn Farms creates.

Their herd of more than 150 Saanen dairy goats provides the milk used to make handcrafted cheeses ranging from Cheddar and Gouda to Fetina and flavored chèvres. That same high-quality goat milk also goes into their handmade soaps alongside moisturizing oils and thoughtfully selected scents.

It’s local craftsmanship you can taste, use, and trace right back to the farm.

For Daniel Rudy of WoodEndeavor, craftsmanship has always been part of life.

Raised in a wood shop as the son of a custom home builder, Daniel brings a lifelong connection to woodworking into every piece he creates. His recent exploration of wood block relief printing reveals the natural beauty and patterns hidden within the grain, blending carved imagery with the organic character of the wood itself.

Each print reflects patience, creativity, and a deep appreciation for both material and process, resulting in work that feels both grounded and expressive.
