If your child has been singing the songs around the house, this is their chance to step into the story.

Join us these September school holidays as we rehearse and perform a full Disney musical in just one week, finishing with two performances at the Hope Centre.

No auditions.
No experience required.
Prep to Grade 12.
Everyone is welcome.

What makes our homeschool program so special?✨

Honestly… it’s the people.

Yes, we create musicals. Yes, students learn performance skills, build confidence, develop characters, and work towards a real production.

But what keeps families coming back is the community that grows around it.

Friendships formed over shared lunch breaks.
Parents chatting over a coffee while classes are running.
Students encouraging each other through rehearsals.
A space where young people can be creative, be themselves, and feel like they belong.

Our Thursday Musical Theatre Production Class brings students together to create an entire musical in just one term. From the first read-through to opening night, they become part of something bigger than themselves.

✨ Term 3 begins Thursday 16 July

A very overdue thank you for Moana JR. 🥥🌺

To our incredible cast, what you achieved in five days was enormous. Almost 60 performers, from 3 year olds through to18 year olds!, learning an entire musical with choreography, scenes, complex harmonies and another language phonetically, is absolutely mind-blowing!

My favourite part was watching you become a cast. Different ages, schools and friendship groups, all looking after each other, making new friends and creating something pretty special together.

We were so sad to lose a number of our cast to illness throughout the week. To those children who worked so hard but missed show day, you were absolutely still part of Moana. We missed you up there! 🫶🏼

To our families, THANK YOU. For the drop-offs, packed lunches, costumes, tired children, rehearsing at home and filling that theatre to cheer them on. So many of you return production after production, and I never take the trust you place in us for granted.

And four very special thank yous...

Miss Lydie, who spent the week behind a sewing machine creating our Polynesian costumes while somehow keeping everything else running.

Michael Keen, who taught nearly 60 children, some only 5 years old, another language phonetically with complex, multilayered harmonies. Watching you teach, adapt and guide these children was incredible.

Mr Ben, my steadfast, reliable workhorse. From teenage Valmy student, to Diploma graduate, teacher and now choreographer. I’m incredibly proud of you.

And Miss Ella, who stepped into Assistant Director mid-week, asked “What do you need?” and got it done. For the second time in twelve months, you stepped up when we needed you. A blessing I didn’t know I needed.

One line from Moana has stayed with me: “My home, my people beside me.”...I think that sums this one up perfectly.

To our cast, our families and the people beside us, thank you.

A two-show day for COMPANY today! 💙🧡

Our performers hit the stage at both Milton Markets and Nundah Festival, and we absolutely loved seeing them out in the community doing what COMPANY was created to do… perform!

There is so much to be gained from performing in front of a live audience. Learning to adapt to different stages and spaces, dealing with the unexpected, connecting with an audience, supporting each other and building the confidence that only comes from getting up there and doing it again and again.

These young performers are learning so much every time they step onto a stage, and it’s been really lovely watching them grow together as a group.

My wonderful studio manager, Miss Lydie.

The last two weeks have honestly been chaos. I’ve been sick, we’ve had some really difficult family emergencies, and there have been days where I just haven’t been able to be “on”.

And Lydie has picked up the pieces.

She’s sorted staff, contacted families and students, dealt with the million little things that come up every day and kept everything going when I couldn’t.

Being able to actually step away and know that things are ok is a really big deal for me…for VA.

The last time life forced me to step away from our business was when Loïc passed away. I trusted other people to keep things going while I dealt with losing him and looked after my family, and unfortunately things didn’t go the way I thought they would. I’ve been picking up the pieces ever since.

Ever since… there’s always been a part of me that feels like I have to be available 24/7. That I have to know what’s happening and keep my hands on everything.

But these last couple of weeks, I’ve been able to say to Lydie, “I just can’t do this today.” And her answer is simply, “I’ve got it.”

That means more to me than she probably realises.

Tonight we got to celebrate both of our birthdays together with a special trip to the theatre. Good seats, champagne and lots of giggles, and I just wanted to say a big fat MERCI for everything you’ve done over the last few weeks and everything you continue to do for me, my family and my company… every single day.

Merci beaucoup, Miss Lydie. 🧡💙

MEET THE TEAM: LYDIE LAMONT 🌊

Taking care of our performers, families and team throughout Disney’s Moana JR. is our wonderful Studio Manager, Lydie.

Lydie will be there each morning to welcome and sign in our young performers, helping everything run smoothly throughout the week and supporting wherever she is needed during our theatre and performance days.

She brings so much warmth, organisation and genuine care to Valmy Academy, and we are incredibly lucky to have her.

MEET THE TEAM: BEN COLE 🌊

Returning to choreograph Disney’s Moana JR. is Valmy Academy graduate Ben Cole!

Ben is an exciting emerging performer and creative, actively working across Brisbane’s theatre scene. He is also a much-loved teacher at Valmy Academy, working with both our younger performers and teens.

This will be Ben’s second production as Choreographer, and we cannot wait to see the world of Moana come to life through his movement and storytelling.

Ella is a performer, theatre-maker and educator who works across several Valmy Academy programs and productions. She brings warmth, creativity and a real passion for storytelling, along with a wonderful ability to connect with young performers.

MEET THE TEAM: MICHAEL KEEN 🎶

We are incredibly excited to welcome Michael Keen as Music Director for Disney’s Moana JR.

Michael brings an extraordinary level of professional musical and conducting experience to this production. This is a wonderful opportunity for our young performers to work with, learn from and make music alongside such an accomplished musician.
