De deuren zijn weer open.

Afgelopen weekend mochten we jullie eindelijk weer verwelkomen in het vernieuwde Van Abbe Café. Na een periode van verbouwen zijn we ontzettend blij met het resultaat: een warm, eigentijds interieur waarin elk detail zorgvuldig is ontworpen.

Samen met ontwerpersduo @daphnalaurens hebben we het café een nieuwe uitstraling gegeven, met bijzondere elementen die het karakter van de ruimte versterken. Van de vloer en het kleurgebruik tot de verlichting en de maatwerkdetails, alles draagt bij aan de nieuwe sfeer van het Van Abbe Café.

We zijn er helemaal klaar voor om jullie weer te ontvangen voor een goede koffie, lunch of borrel. Ook voor events staan onze deuren weer open. Denk aan zomerse borrels, diners, bedrijfsbijeenkomsten en andere bijzondere gelegenheden.

Last weekend, we were finally able to welcome you back to the refurbished Van Abbe Café. Following a period of renovation, we are absolutely delighted with the result: a warm, contemporary interior in which every detail has been carefully designed.

Together with design duo @daphnalaurens, we have given the café a fresh new look, with distinctive elements that enhance the character of the space. From the flooring and colour scheme to the lighting and bespoke details, everything contributes to the new atmosphere of the Van Abbe Café.

We are absolutely ready to welcome you back for a good cup of coffee, lunch or drinks. Our doors are also open again for events. Think summer drinks, dinners, corporate gatherings and other special occasions.

Hi! Dit is je reminder om gezellig naar het Van Abbe Café te komen. 🌞👋

Met heerlijke lunch- en borrelgerechten, zalige koffie en huisgemaakt gebak dat je vindt in onze vitrine én op de bar.

Dit alles in ons prachtige nieuwe interieur. En neem de kleintjes gerust mee: onze kinderhoek staat klaar voor kleine bezoekers.

Focaccia met achterham,
augurk,
zoetzure ui,
dragonmayonaise
en rucola.

En weg is-ie. 😋

pickles,
sweet-and-sour onions,
tarragon mayonnaise,
and arugula.

Zoals deze spiegels van @martensvisser

Ze weerspiegelen niet alleen de ruimte. Ze vangen het licht, verschuiven het perspectief en laten de ruimte met de dag meebewegen.

Dit is een van onze favoriete plekjes.
En het zit ook nog eens heerlijk! 💙

Van Abbe museum café interior

For the renovated café at the Van Abbemuseum, Daphna Laurens designed an interior that builds on the museum’s layered architecture. The design adds a new layer without erasing the existing qualities of the space.
The café sits at the threshold between the museum, the city and the Dommel River. This connection between interior and exterior forms an important starting point. The new brick-red floor creates a visual connection with the historic building.
Colour and material give the café a warm and distinctive identity. Soft curtains reinforce the colour palette and filter the daylight entering through the tall windows. Furniture, flooring, textiles and the existing architecture come together in an interior designed to invite people to stay.
The result is a contemporary space that responds to the history of the Van Abbemuseum while establishing a character of its own: open, warm and connected to its surroundings.
