Aerial images captured by Nearmap show a before and after in areas that have been burned by the Spokane County wildfires. The before images were captured on June 13, 2026 and the after images were captured on August 1, 2026.
Some of the after images show the heavy plumes of smoke from the wildfires as some houses can be seen burnt or up in flames. Firefighters can be seen responding to the flames in some of the images and another image shows where fire retardant had been dropped on the area. @cnn

Even though my time in #Jamaica has come to an end, the stories do not stop here for me and my team. Additional @cnn resources and journalists are en route to help shed light on the challenges that Jamaicans face in the days/months/years to come after this devastating hurricane.

It was an honor to be on the ground telling your stories. Being fully present in the moment. Never taking for granted of the fact that I was a guest in your country. Pausing everything to listen to the hardships that people are facing while trying my absolute best to convey those stories to the worldwide platform I’ve been blessed with.

Jamaica- thank for showing this journalist what resilience, determination, compassion and unity look like. We are with you. The world is with you. 🇯🇲 🌎

One final thought- the first picture was a very candid moment that my friend and producer @devonmsayers captured amongst a chaotic scene unfolding in Black River. There were a lot of emotions racing through my head at that particular time. Pausing and praying for clarity was how I was able to move through it. 🙏🏼

‼️ Impacts from Hurricane Isaias won’t stop at the coast ‼️Tornadoes, strong winds and inland flash flooding resulting in tree damage and downed power lines are a concern across the greater Atlanta metro (and beyond) from late tonight thru early Sunday. Please be vigilant and weather-aware this weekend and make sure to have extra supplies on hand in case of extended power outages. Details can be found within this short video.

JUST IN: Hurricane and Storm Surge Watches issued across portions of the Gulf Coast as T.S. Isaias intensifies.

Here’s the latest:

Isaias is getting stronger—and fast. Hurricane Hunters are finding a better-organized storm, and conditions over the Gulf are increasingly favorable for rapid intensification. The National Hurricane Center now forecasts Isaias to peak as a strong CAT 2 (110 mph) before approaching the northern Gulf Coast Friday afternoon. A Major Hurricane (CAT3+) cannot be ruled out. The storm should be on a weakening trend upon arrival, but this *does not* imply a WEAK storm. It will have an expanding wind-field on its final approach and that means impacts will extend further from the center (generally east of center).

The forecast track has also shifted slightly east, putting coastal Mississippi, Alabama and the Florida Panhandle increasingly in the crosshairs. A Hurricane Watch is now in effect from Bay St. Louis to Indian Pass, while a Storm Surge Watch stretches from the mouth of the Mississippi River all the way to Yankeetown, Florida.

🌊- The biggest concern may be storm surge along a notoriously vulnerable coastline. With 5 to 7 feet of water possible from Ocean Springs to Indian Pass, including Mobile Bay.

🌧️- Heavy rain will add another threat, with 3 to 6 inches expected and locally up to 10 inches. Fortunately, the storms quick movement will limit these totals.

🌪️- A tornado threat will exist late Friday and into Saturday for areas generally east of where the center makes landfall.

💨- This storm could produce gusts in excess of 100 mph near the center. These are destructive winds and power outages can be expected.

But here’s the important part: there is still considerable uncertainty. The models remain split, and even a relatively small eastward or westward shift could dramatically change who sees the worst impacts. For now, the threat is clearly increasing from coastal Mississippi through Alabama and the Florida Panhandle.

If you live from New Orleans ➡️ Apalachicola, the time to put in your hurricane preparations is NOW. Rather plan for the worst and hope for the best. taken in Panama City Beach, Florida by @vandamcnn

Tropical mischief is starting to brew in the Gulf but there are so many hurdles this storm needs to overcome in order to strengthen. I break down the latest range of options on the table, including potential disruptions to this weekends Georgia vs. Alabama football game. @cnn

‼️This should concern you - The glaciers of the Swiss Alps are are rapidly disappearing. 📉 These “ambassadors of climate change” are real-world time capsules of our warming planet and if we don’t reverse course, we will loose all living memory of these frozen giants. Today’s report from GLAMOS (Glacier Monitoring Switzerland) is concerning. The full annual report can be found here: https://doi.glamos.ch/pubs/annualrep/annualrep_2026.pdf
