From the first superhero spoof attempt written in a pre-pandemic world, to the three-act speculative noir thriller with a hint of romance of today, this story has stayed with me, even when it was just a distant memory made of 10k words, tucked away on my usb key.

There were lot of doubts over the past twelve months, after uncovering the outline and giving it a second chance. The world moves on quickly. I do not. A lot of evenings and weekends questioning my sanity and my skills; but also so much joy putting this story, these characters, this world onto the page and watching them grow, refuse plots, go their own way, challenge me in the best way. And so much learning, so much growing up, so many connections made with incredible writers, friends and teachers.

After a lifetime of limiting self-beliefs about my ability to tell long stories, 50k might not seem much, but they are the proof: Don't Doubt Your Worth. Trust the process. It's only the beginning.

So yes. Draft 1.5 is under written. Messy at times. Some scenes are placeholders. But whatever happens next... Supercharged lives.⚡️⚡️⚡️

Welcome to Playlist Favourite pick number 17!

You know that part in a thriller, when the main character races against the clock, breathless and the adrenaline runs deep? When they would raise hell to save someone, or something, that is desperately in need of rescuing? When they finally say a big "fxxx you" to the universe and the universe replies back? It could be set in an abandoned warehouse, or a sophisticated nightclub, or even in neon back alleys. The soundtrack will always match the pulse and Emerge is perfect.

Andrea Rivera will rise. Hopefully.

Hello, the Playlist Favourite pick has finally dropped, with a few modifications - mainly not using Canva and using my own pics instead.

I am reviewing my first draft and jotting useful notes to prep draft 2, and picked this song as a summary of the end of the second act; one scene in particular has inspired this choice, a quiet beat that is not as peaceful as it seems. This is an Andie song for sure, that I imagine is being played while she walks downtown, thinking about what could be.

Still here, still navigating this crazy summer.

When I revamped my Instagram account last year, it was merely a tool to keep me accountable while navigating the joys and the meltdowns of writing a manuscript. 11 months on, I'm part of an amazing community, my shelves have never looked so full and I'm on my way to complete that draft.

Moody, atmospheric lullaby against the neon-drenched city where my two main characters are battling demons and fighting the machine? Yes please. #WIPPlaylist today is a cover from Joyner, which I first heard in the amazing TV show Paradise (don't spoil me, I haven't watched season 2 yet). It's a great track to take me back to New Sunderwell - this city to me is like Sankofa Square on steroids: bright lights, people piling in, a sea of ever-changing ads...Nothing sleeps. It shouldn't.

Seen that post a lot and wanted to partake, so here are six things I've searched lately:

1. I want to be as accurate as possible when depicting the LLM overlords in my book, so I fell into a rabbit hole. Spoiler alert: AI as a tool of surveillance research is ugly, and the science papers are terrifying. I do not like where we're headed next. I don’t think my characters do either.

2. Electricity has a fishy smell when it's about to explode. Otherwise, I'm playing with ozone, gasoline, and that weird smell when a thunderstorm is near. It will make sense. I promise.

3. I read two full papers willingly....and used it for approximately three lines in the draft. There was lots of data.

4. This one was fun! Also terrifying. But fun! Hydration levels, mood, BPM...Every device will ultimately read your very soul. Health optimisation!

5.Tell me you work in corporate without telling me you work in corporate. I needed to scope hierarchies and job titles for accuracy. Looked at different companies in the UK, US, Canada, Australia and Japan. Why? Why not?

6. Because sometimes the WIP Playlist is good but not enough. I need to feel the dread of walking into a meeting that could be life ending right into my eardrums. Current lullaby? Trent Reznor & Atticus Finch's Gone Girl OST

Feeding content to the overlords but more importantly saying hi and how are you and holy batman this is hard isn't it?
March + April so far. Everytime I set myself a deadline it just explodes in many different directions.
But I'm still here, and so are you.
