It feels amazing to be back in the playground again! The work continues!
"Silence" is centered around creating awareness on the social unrest and injustices, the ongoing and ever shifting sands of the global pandemic, and the ongoing gun violence this country continues to witness.
Join us March 18 & 19 @ 7PM at the ADF SHS Studios for two evenings of informal showings! Masks and proof of vaccination are required. Registration required (FREE OF CHARGE!) -- MUST register to be let in (Link in bio)

So much gratitude and thanks to Tony Johnson for bringing me into this important work and to @amerdancefest for such beautiful space and opportunity to present such a critical project.

See y'all there!! by @vanitymarrs

FRIENDS AND FAMILY! I am so honored to announce that I have been selected as a North Carolina Arts Council Artist Support Grant award recipient in support of my latest working-project, INTROSPECT! I am so thrilled to have received this funding. This project means so much to me -- developed to further investigate how deepening our awareness of mind and body creates space for discovering tools that can support emotional, physical, and mental wellbeing. I am incredibly grateful to have received funding from the North Carolina Arts Council, a division of the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources, and Durham Arts Council, local grants administrator. Read more about my project, INTROSPECT, HERE *LINK IN BIO*---> Anthonynelsonjr.com/projects

Because of the magnitude and the resources required to produce such important work, I am humbly asking for your support to help sustain my latest project which will deepen my craft, allow me to enrich my community, and document the transformative power of movement for introspection. WE’RE HALF WAY THERE! Learn more about how you can SUPPORT, HERE *LINK IN BIO*---> Anthonynelsonjr.com/support taken in Durham, North Carolina by @vanitymarrs

✨ Something I’ve been creating is finally coming to life. ✨

On November 5 & 6, I’ll be sharing a new interdisciplinary performance and art installation exploring the relationship between Japanese Shodō (calligraphy), movement, and sound.

This project has been a deeply personal exploration -- translating language, energy, memory, and movement onto paper in real time.

AND..this project is part of Durham’s inaugural Fringe Festival @durhamfringenc , celebrating bold, boundary-pushing performance and the vibrant arts community of Durham!

The Deets:
🖌️ Live Shodō + Contemporary Dance Performance [Nov. 5th & 6th]
🎨 Art Installation / Gallery Exhibition [Nov 5th - 8th]
🎶 Original Sound + Movement
📍 Kingfisher Durham, NC
📅 November 5 & 6 , 2026

I’d love for you to come experience it with me!

https://durhamfringefestival.org

Whether you’re familiar with Japanese calligraphy, contemporary dance, both, or neither — come curious. There will be something to see, hear, feel, and sit with.

The full event details are on the flyer below. Please share this with someone who might be interested, and I hope to see you there. 🖤

Save the dates: November 5 & 6th - 8th
