🌟SoCal Regional Championship Finals — PART 1:
The Southern California Regional Championships meet last weekend brought on some absolutely fire performances. 🔥 EVERY competing athlete made podium/took home some hardware, and three of our athletes advanced to the California State Championship meet that was held this weekend!! 🏆🏆🏆

🔥Toni Chambers kicked off the day in style, soaring elegantly to a 2nd place podium finish in the High Jump with a clearance of 1.60m, and a chance to show off her skills at the State Championship meet. ✅
In the same event, dual sport athlete (basketball & track) Kaylee Lawson jumped a height of 1.45m, placing her 9th overall.

🔥Aariah Fox, our other dual sport athlete (basketball & track) snagged 8th place on the podium in Long Jump with a jump of 5.12m, for her second event of the day, and was just a touch shy of her season best.

🔥After two years of battling injuries, Selma Jensen fought her way back—earning 7th place on the podium in Pole Vault. Resilient, relentless, and tough as they come.

🔥Despite the scorching 95°F heat in Mission Viejo—far from the cool 60°F conditions she’s used to training in back in Santa Barbara—our 400m standout, Ryan Mendez, battled through and earned an 8th place finish, securing a spot on the podium.

🔥First-year triple jump queen Kaylee Lawson came through with a big 10.79m leap, landing a new lifetime PR, 4th place on the podium, and punching herself a ticket to STATE! This mark also placed her 4th on SBCC’s All-Time Performance list. ✅✅

Part 2 on next post!! 🤠

🌟SoCal Regional Championship Finals — PART 2:
Pole vaulter Aidan Perkoski shattered his personal record—set just a week prior—by clearing 4.25m and earning 7th place overall. This mark represents a significant improvement of nearly a foot and a half from last season!

🔥800m standout Kiala Haas, also stamped her ticket to State, with yet another season-best performance, claiming 2nd place on the podium in an impressive 2:17.32. This time ranks her #4 in the entire state and #6 in SBCC School History—a phenomenal achievement in a stellar season! ✅✅

🔥After a long, sunny day of competition, our women’s 4x400 relay team—Kaylee Lawson, Kiala Hass, Aariah Fox, and Ryan Mendez—powered their way to a Top 7 finish at the SoCal Finals, clocking in at 4:04.91.

Splits: 65.8 | 60.8 | 58.9 | 59.4

Each of these athletes walked away with two medals, capping off an incredible performance on the big stage!

🔥After waiting all day to race, our men’s 4x400 squad—Reign Martinez, Emmett Mack, Beck O’Hara, and Dylan Orquiola— took the track and delivered a 6th place finish at the SoCal Finals with a new PR of 3:19.69 (previous best: 3:21.17). This time places them #9 on SBCC’s All Time Top Performance List. ✅

Splits: 50.9 | 47.9 | 50.9 | 49.8

Knowing they would have to run fast in order to have a shot at making State, they shaved over a second off their previous best time, and closed the meet on a strong note!

Big weekend for SBCC Track & Field at the WSC Finals!

Our Vaquero Men’s and Women’s teams showed up strong—breaking season bests, earning personal records, and making their mark in the SBCC record books!

🔥Men’s Highlights:

Colby Todd claimed the Pole Vault Championship, and Aidan Perkoski placed 4th!

David Celio ran a massive 2+ minute lifetime PR in the 10,000m (35:36.48)!

Emmett Mack battled back from a stumble at the start to place 4th in the 200m (22.21).

In the 400m, Reign Martinez solidified an 8th place finish (51.29.00) for a lifetime PR!

Both men’s relay teams (4x100m & 4x400m) placed 2nd with season-best times, and were only 0:0.35 seconds behind first place!

In throws, Chris Pagliaro (39.51m in Javelin) and Nic Bitar (11.51m in Shot Put) both landed in 4th, with Max Kubel placing 10th in Discus (31.15m).

The men finished 9th overall.

🔥Women’s Highlights:

Selma Jensen came back from injury to win Pole Vault in just her second meet this season!

ALL 4 high jumpers [Toni, C. (2nd), Aariah, F. (3rd), Kaylee, L. (4th), Ryan, M. (6th)] placed and qualified for SoCal Regionals—
Toni Chambers jumped 1.60m (2nd), just one height below her best jump from a few weeks ago of 1.65m, which has her placed her fourth best in SBCC History.

Kiala Haas dominated the 800m with a 1st place finish and season best (2:19.21), placing her sixth best in SBCC History.

Kaylee Lawson claimed 1st place in Triple Jump on her final attempt, with a PR of (10.71m), and landed herself fourth All-Time in SBCC History. She also placed 5th in 400mH.

Aariah Fox took 4th place in Long Jump for a season best leap of 5.15m.

Ryan Mendez took 3rd in the 400m (58.52) and ran a 200m lifetime PR (25.70) placing 5th.

Zet Contreras snagged 14th place in Javelin (16.65m).

Our Women’s 4x400m Relay team (Gianna. Cagliostro, Kiala Haas, Aariah Fox, Ryan Mendez) placed 2nd with the 3rd fastest time in SBCC history (4:02.04)—just shy of the school record (4:00.38) from 2013!

The Women’s 4x100m Relay team placed 6th.

Despite a small squad of only 7 scorers, the women placed an impressive 5th out of 13 teams.
