Silence is a loud statement that I’m not for justice.

At this point, those who call themselves apolitical, centrist, or disinterested in the state of Indian politics are often the ones who are privileged, those who will not be lynched, arrested on fabricated charges, or discriminated against. They are the ones who will not bear the direct consequences of the government ‘abducting’ a man who had been peacefully protesting on a hunger strike for 21 days in the name of ‘health concerns.’ without a single word of accountability from the Prime Minister or any other responsible government official.

They have been hiding behind the white bedsheets of alleged development and India’s newfound global status. We are at this low point in our history not just because of the phobes and the bigots, but because those who should have known better have chosen their privilege over taking a stand for what is right.

Wake up. Speak up. Show up.✊🏾

Please feel free to use this artwork for purposes that will help amplify the protest.

“ruk..ruk.. hune chaa wala aa jaana!” a few people moved from their pose. 🚂

sleeper coaches are my all-time favourite places to live-sketch full of still people, not moving, yet moving! it’s so moving to watch @akshat.a.14 work on our film @jyada.aage.jao.mat even during the journey, while @siddhanth_sidd quietly observes and sketches beautiful people on the lower berth.🌻 taken in Chandigarh, India by @varayaadi
