We drove 300 miles around Skye and never found the lighthouse.

Here's everything else we found instead 👇

10 Things to Experience on the Isle of Skye 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

1. Drive the Trotternish Peninsula — narrow roads, dramatic cliffs, sheep, sea views and a constantly changing landscape.

2. Stand above Kilt Rock & Mealt Falls — dramatic sea cliffs with Mealt Falls dropping toward the water below.

3. Walk out to the ruins of Duntulm Castle — windswept, remote and wonderfully atmospheric.

4. Experience the Quiraing — towering rock formations, rolling green slopes and sweeping views. Even without the full hike, the scenery alone is worth the drive.

5. Walk Portree Harbour — colorful waterfront buildings, fishing boats and a stroll along the harbour.

6. Chase a lighthouse at Neist Point — we made it there in winds so strong we could barely stand, and never actually found the lighthouse. Still unforgettable.

7. Stay somewhere remote — for us, it was Flodigarry. Waking up surrounded by that wild landscape is part of experiencing Skye.

8. Embrace the weather — rain, sun, sideways rain, wind, repeat. On Skye, the weather isn't something you work around; it's part of the experience.

9. Get caught in a Highland cow traffic jam.

10. Just drive and stop when something catches your eye — some of the best moments aren't marked on a map.

The Isle of Skye isn't really a checklist. It's a place you experience along the way. 🌫️

We thought we were just taking a cooking class in Cuzco, Peru… until the room started moving. 😳🇵🇪

We happened to be filming when the earthquake hit, so our confusion and reactions are completely real. It was a large M7.2 earthquake roughly 130 miles away from us.

Thankfully, where we were, it was only a gentle swaying and we were safe.

Travel rule #1: expect the unexpected.

Empty nest. Full hearts. Shaky horizons. 😂🌎

Cartagena was such a surprise. ❤️🇨🇴

We were only there for two nights, but it left an impression. We felt completely safe, the food was fantastic, the energy was contagious, and the city is bursting with color, music and life.

I kept thinking while we were there that Cartagena feels a little like what I imagine Cuba could have been—or perhaps still could be. Maybe it’s the Caribbean Sea, the warmth of the people, the colonial architecture, the music, or simply that unmistakable Caribbean soul.
At the bar we listen to 2 different Cuban bands , all Venezuelan and only 1 Cuban! Can you guess who’s the Cuban? The female trombone 🪊 player.

Two nights definitely weren’t enough. Easy flight from Miami. Looking forward to going back 🇨🇴❤️ by @vbarba
