🎶 Can music help us shift how we feel, rather than just match it?

FEIT PhD Graduand and Melbourne Conservatorium of Music alum, Dr Xanthe Lowe-Brown (@Xanthe_LB) explored this across three connected studies, testing how emotion-aware music technology could support everyday emotional wellbeing, and where the ethical limits lie.

Her research developed into a music plugin, MoodDJ, which builds personalised playlist journeys from how you feel to how you want to feel.

Artist in Paris 🇫🇷

During a three-month residency at @CiteDesArtsParis awarded by @The_Power_Institute, @VCA_Art Senior Lecturer Dr Kate Just (@KateJustKnits) has been researching the @AwareWomenArt archives, exploring feminist and contemporary textile art in museums and galleries across Paris.

At the launch of her open studio exhibition in Paris, she shared a new series called 'Feminist Fan: A New Archive', featuring nine knitted portraits of significant women, gender diverse and queer artists from around the world.

A sold-out season that left a lasting impression 👏

Our production of 'Handel's Xerxes' brought together students from our Master of Music (Opera Performance), Bachelor of Music (Performance), Bachelor of Fine Arts (Production) and Early Music Studio, showcasing their exceptional talent and professionalism nurtured through their training at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music and Victorian College of the Arts.

Clearly, they left their mark on audiences too, with glowing reviews from @Arts_Review and Classic Melbourne ✍️
