Baby Girl 💕💞💝🎀 Born on 24.09.24 at 17:17 at home. A perfect birth. 🙏🏾 Daddy, @kings_art caught her in the bathroom after the second push. Our little girl was in a hurry with just two pushes, she literally slipped out (okra water really does work!). I’m so grateful that her very first moments in this world were shared with just us. I truly felt God’s hand guiding me throughout my pregnancy and orchestrating every detail of my labour bringing our baby girl safely to us. He answered my heart’s desire, as I’d felt certain I was having another boy, though deep down, I’d been hoping for a girl. What a beautiful surprise! At seven weeks postpartum, I still feel on a high after my spontaneous, unmedicated VBAC, with no medical interventions. I did it!! I was determined to experience a natural birth after the difficult emergency C-section. I don’t speak about it often, but that experience was challenging and made recovery hard so this time I wanted to be present with my toddler, not interfere this transition by major surgery recovery. Although the NHS offered some VBAC support, there was a limit. I knew I wanted more control over my birth experience. I didn’t want to feel pressured by the hospital’s agenda or be swayed by their scare tactics. As my due date approached, it felt like I was losing my say because of being labelled “high risk.” I’d developed gestational diabetes, which meant creating a new diet plan and monitoring my blood sugar four times a day. They booked me in for last-minute appointments, interventions and procedures, all while I was still juggling work and business before going on maternity leave. I stood strong and remained determined to do it my way. To all my fellow mothers to be, I encourage you to advocate for yourselves, even during appointments. Remember your strength. Do your research on hospitals and their birth statistics, pray over every detail of your birth plan, and communicate openly with your partner. Speak your desires aloud, go for prayer walks, and enjoy the precious moments during pregnancy, let the oxytocin flow - it's worth it. It's the most empowering and important thing I've done and you can do it too! #vbac by @vea__k

Happy New Year! So we did something in Stratford, East London 😁 I'm excited to unveil our biggest @blackgirlknitclub project yet. Braided Traditions: Common Threads. Celebrating the creativity of Black Women's hair through knitting. We were commissioned to 'yarn bomb' The Pavilion in Endeavour Square located in the new area of Stratford Cross. It took us 8 weeks from inception to install (crazy I know). A lot of hard work was put into building a design team, collaborating with our client and stakeholders and figuring out logistics. We hosted weekly workshops with our community designing, sourcing materials from local East London businesses including West African sponges and scaffolding netting to arm knit in response to the brief. Those workshops helped us realise why we started Black Girl Knit Club and it's for you to feel safe and seen 🤎 Growing up and schooling in the area to seeing how much it has changed has been inspiring. It has been a privilege to contribute a new story to the growing creative community of Stratford. Phase 2 on 18th Jan spotlighting the 5 knitwear designers who have designed their own coverings for the surrounding trees to the left of the site. We had the absolute pleasure of supporting our friend and British Ghanaian knitwear designer Beatrice of @korlekie who was selected to join the @blackinfashioncouncil x @img Discovery Showrooms presenting at New York Fashion Week! @nyfw For us, NYFW is all about coming together, connecting, and shining together. The showroom provided the perfect space for genuine conversations with like-minded people. Walking into my 4th year of motherhood… here's what it's really taught me. There's more but let's stick to the theme! 1. There is no perfect work-life balance. I've learnt to lean on my village, ask for help, and let go of doing everything alone. 2. I'm finding myself again, but she's different now with bigger dreams. Motherhood didn't take away who I am; it revealed a more intentional version of me. 3. Getting back into my old clothes isn't about 'bouncing back.' It's about styling them for the woman I've become more confident, intentional, and comfortable in my own skin. 4.Watching my son turn four last week reminds me that I'm growing too. As he becomes more independent, I'm rediscovering my passions, my creativity, and making space for myself again. A little bit behind the scenes of my first visit to Pitti Filati @pittimmagine in Florence 🇮🇹. We @blackgirlknitclub invested in ourselves and travelled to one of the world's leading yarn trade fairs to meet and build relationships for a better understanding of the journey, from fibre to finished product as we venture into developing our knit kits. One thing that stayed with me was the craftsmanship, innovation and expertise seeing that up close was inspiring. At the same time we were the one who looked like us in those rooms bringing a different perspective to textiles. Building isn't easy, it's showing up asking questions, connecting and learning. You are supposed to be a big deal!... Last month I had the honour of meeting the incredible Cynthia Erivo at Universal Music Group offices while repping BGKC @blackgirlknitclub - a moment filled with purpose, intention, and alignment. What you didn’t see in the pictures: I had no childcare that morning. My eldest was at nursery, and my 8 month baby had to come with me due to last minute scheduling I said a prayer and moved in faith. No fuss just trust. And once again, God made a way. People are often surprised when things “just work out.” But honestly? They do because when you’re called, you show up. Even if it’s not perfect, it’s still purpose. Sometimes your baby’s part of the meeting (us working mothers know the juggle) Sometimes your intuition leads your schedule. And always prayer is the strategy. Balancing motherhood and building a business (especially on maternity leave) is not easy. But faith makes room. God goes before you. There’s grace for every step, and strength to carry what He’s placed in your hands. I had gifts to give, a seed to plant, and connections to nurture.
