Today is Saint Idahound's Day and Ida's adoption birthday. Unfortunately she couldn't make it and left us on November 29th🌈🌁 Her last day was the tail end of a huge adventure to the Arctic Circle in Alaska!!! Road trips were her second favorite thing(food is #1). She was likely 16 or 17 and I did everything possible to give her the best final days she could possibly have. We went to Glacier, Banff, Calgary, Edmonton, Whitehorse, Fairbanks, The Arctic Circle, Coldfoot and Denali before slowly heading back home. We camped every night(including a few -20 nights) but one where we stayed at a cousins house in Edmonton for our third night of the trip. She was loving it so much and fighting sleeping in the car to enjoy whatever could come within view of our windows. On route, she saw lots of moose, bison, thinhorn sheep and even a lynx!!!

She got special treats at all the vegan restaurants we crossed. Pizza, ice cream, pancakes, waffles, burgers, mac n' cheese, a yummy roast on Thanksgiving and more. Her final restaurant meal was an entire meal in Boise made just for her. And she had a last almond croissant from @passionflourslc

Ida will forever watch over the kitchen, her favorite part of the house❤️. She's next to a print of Mt Olympus, our second most crested hike. Her fastest time being when she was already 11 or 12yrs💪 The polar bear is there because we didn't actually get to see one on the trip and I got it for her at the Richmond Oval on the way home. Her corner will also have lots of Ida+food photos once I pick them from the huge collection of Ida photos...many thousands

*Elva is the new addition and has Ida's desire to always be searching for food!!! She's a shelter born rez dog like Murtagh was and also from @nuzzlesandco

First of two big road trips with the dogs before I get busy with work again. Vegas, Sedona, Santa Fe, Taos and more on tap. Stopping for all the vegan yums and the dogs get something ordered for them everywhere we can. Elva is really loving these adventures and waking up to new smells every day.
*I cut a hole in my roof and lifted it to make more storage space and headroom. Its also given me an extra +1.5mpg too which is nice. I'm guessing there aren't too many high roof Suzuki Grand Vitara's out there!!!

Went out for our yearly camp in Idaho for Ida's adoption birthday along with Rocco and Kristy. Of course, we had to have Ida's favorite almond croissants from @passionflourslc. We all shared one the night we got to camp and everyone got their own croissant in the morning with the exception of Rocco who has a very sensitive stomach.

Elva clearly loves croissants and camping the way Ida did❤️

We also stopped at some Napoleon Dynamite landmarks since they were so close to where we camped.

*Been a while since I've posted. But we will hopefully be going on a pretty big adventure in the spring up the California coast to Vancouver.

I won my 3rd consecutive state time trial championship...spread out over about 15yrs and 3 states with the last being about 12yrs ago😂 I couldn't pull off the overall top time(the last 2 were overalls) with two cat 1/2 beating me but I'm quite happy with the result, especially considering the 2hrs of sleep I got mixed with the always hated, early start.
It's been a hard few years after dealing with recovery from a car accident, and gaining a bunch of weight after not really being able to work out at all for over 6 months. In addition to that, largely stopped biking about 5yrs ago. With that accident, I still have a very different bike position than I used to have with a tight neck being a constant annoyance, along with a perpetual headache but I got the biking bug back a little less than 2yrs ago. I'll definitely fully be avoiding mass start races on pavement though... can't get any more concussions.

I was VERY out of shape when I got back on the bike and I have to thank coach @shaynapowless and @powlessperformance for helping me claw back as much of my old fitness as possible. I've got some big goals coming up and I'm confident in getting there with her help!

Happy to be repping @utahanimalrights for the foreseeable future on the bike and winning races in this skinsuit!

*Hoping to pull off the overall next season, along with possibly some pursuit racing on the velodrome.

Happy to celebrate my mom's first birthday living in Utah! We headed north so she could try a vegan place she hadn't been to yet. She ordered the Buddha Bowl with a lavender latte and I got their GF Breakfast Burrito with a yerba mate latte.
*Dad stayed home...Ida's orders!!!

Excavation for my addition is finally starting. Not too confident that construction will actually start though. I must have one of the worst general contractors in Utah with @with_the_grain_llc finding things to screw up at every step of the way. Even with taking all the time in the world to do very simple things like doing a bad job spending +5 months not finishing a shed🤦😅 I'd like to think this is the beginning of the end to the nightmare but I know better at this point. All this construction should have been finished in September, not starting(this isn't even really starting) in damn near January. It's not fun spending all this money knowing you're getting a terrible product that's supposed to last many decades😵‍💫
*At least my concrete subcontractors seem competent. My GC is in court with the framers that built my shed because he docked their pay while I'm stuck with a structurally poor shed. Funny thing is that his argument is that their bad work didn't deserve full pay which will at least do me a big favor if I need to go to court for the terrible work he's producing.
I feel really terrible for all the people that have had work done by him but also don't understand bad work when they see it. If I haven't done so much woodwork in the past, I wouldn't know what I've been seeing either and I'd only be annoyed at the incapability to actually get any work done in a remotely reasonable time frame.

The kids got their first sniffs of the new house. Ida repeatedly told our neighbors that she's their new favorite neighbor!!! Only thing Ida is bummed about is that there's no security deposit for her to take from me🙃
*The house definitely needs work, from siding as soon as possible to a new roof fairly soon. And obviously the yard is a disaster but it has some really great trees and it's quite big for being so close to the middle of the city (about 2 miles). The house couldn't be in a better location for my job and a short walk to a dog park. I have an addition in the works and I'm building a shed that'll be a pottery studio and wood shop. I'm not moving in just yet. I still have my lease until the end of July and it's easier for me to do some of the work in the house without all my stuff in there.

Harriet surprised us all and kept this a secret for about 2 months. We had no idea she was preggo when she got to the sanctuary. 3 girls and 1 boy.
Few piglets get to be born without having a life of suffering planned for them. And most are slaughtered at 6 months while these littles will hopefully live at least 15 years!!! They will go their entire lives without ever being part of the so called food chain.

Ida doing God's work again. Informing this kitty about the dangers of sitting in a windsill.
This kitty now knows to never do this again because of the potential for falling and getting injured.
