@veilification enters THE LAST RESORT

Veil approaches the dancefloor as more than somewhere to play music — it’s a space to build energy, connection and release.

Their selections move through rhythm, pressure and atmosphere, pulling between darker club sounds, unexpected turns and tracks made to bring bodies together. Less about staying inside one genre, more about reading the room and knowing when to push it somewhere else.

Outside the booth, Veil is also one of the people helping shape the culture around The Last Resort — community builder, queer-space protector and policy maker, developing the care principles behind how we want the night to feel: open, respectful and safe enough to actually let go.

On 18 September, an abandoned clothing factory in Homerton becomes THE LAST RESORT — a living ecosystem of emerging fashion, performance, sound, installation and nightlife.

No more traditional runway.
Models + performers inhabit the space, collections become part of the environment, and the show slowly transforms into a party.

Built collectively by London designers, artists, performers, DJs and makers — with sustainability, experimentation and community at its core.

✏️ ABOUT: I met Veil a few years ago in the rave and what struck me was their interest and knowledge for politics. Especially whilst we find ourselves in these turbulent times, it’s vital that politics underlies rave practice.

Veil is a Cultural Curator, Community Director @nafs.space and London-based DJ, born in Kuwait with Iranian roots. Veil explores personal routes through SWANA+ and diasporic sounds, percussive club music and groovy techno. Their sound is grounded in curiosity, memory and a desire to spotlight artists making vital work across the region and its diasporas.

🫧 WHAT DOES SOFT DOMINATION MEAN TO YOU?: I’m tired of shouting… Soft Domination to me is about shaping a space without overpowering it, using care, intention and presence to make room for people who are often pushed to the margins. It means holding the frame of a night so that others can move, rest and connect on their own terms, without having to explain themselves or perform for the comfort of the majority. In practice, that looks like thinking through who is centred in a lineup, what is demanded of bodies on the floor, what is recorded or withheld, and what kind of welfare and access work is treated as essential rather than optional. The aim is not to control how people occupy the space, but to create conditions where those who are usually asked to make themselves smaller can take up room instead.

It's been a while since our launch at @kwia.berlin but we have been searching far and wide for a perfect venue in London that aligns with our mission and values, and life had us stumble into the lovely team at @autumnthree_. From the carpets, to the lighting, to the softness of the space, this is a collaboration of dreams. Safe to say we are beyond overjoyed to invite you to this little nook of East London, which will be the backdrop of the evening. As a shoes off affair, it is part living room, part music lounge.

@qurbet.im was born of a longing to celebrate music, backgrounds, and stories we do not often hear or see represented, and actually are sometimes swallowed or erased. it was born of celebration of difference, rather than assimilation.

qurbət gives DJs the opportunity to play music of their homeland(s), their journeys and their hearts, and invites you to bring your curiosity, listen closely, and speak softly💭

Towards a Global People Movement

Veil is slowly becoming more than a creative outlet. It’s evolving into a research-based movement exploring how music, emotion, and community can drive social change.

My goal is to grow into a party critic for social change, someone who studies and documents how nightlife becomes a mirror for society, and how togetherness becomes activism.

As someone with roots in the Middle East, I’ve seen how joy, art, and love are often political simply because they insist on existing. That perspective drives me to show that freedom isn’t owned by any nation, and that borders, in the deepest sense, shouldn’t exist. 🕊️

The veil stands for that too. The act of stepping beyond ego, beyond category, to remember that we’re all the same pulse underneath.

This isn’t about escaping the world; it’s about reimagining it.

I believe our generation can turn music, empathy, and movement into tools for peace — and maybe, just maybe, into a new global people movement. 🌍🩶 taken in The Earth's Core by @veilification

Why veil?

Veil began as an intersection between my academic work in social change and my lived experiences within sound culture.

It’s a project born from curiosity: how can a dancefloor become a space of dialogue, care, and transformation?

I come from a context where visibility often carries weight. That’s why I keep this project semi-anonymous. Not to hide, but to centre the message before the identity.

The veil, for me, represents humanity before all other labels. 🌍

It’s a reminder that before we are nationalities, genders, or professions. we are human.

That’s the message of Veil: to see beyond categories, beyond borders, beyond the noise that divides.

The white flag 🏳️ is the only flag I’ll ever carry. Not out of neutrality, but out of refusal.

A refusal to take sides when the only side that truly matters is human. 🕊️

This project isn’t about mystery.. it’s about intention. To protect the work, to protect the message, and to remind myself that dignity and peace are forms of resistance too.
