We attempted a few miles at the park this morning after seeing showers moving toward our planned route on the radar. Of course, we get there and discover an event setting up with the park absolutely full of cars and food trucks. 👎

So… we went for coffee instead. ☕️

Half our crew PR’d a 50K today! 🔥

Just last year, anything over 20 mph would get mentioned as “too fast.” Today, you held 50K at 19.5 mph, took pulls, rode together, and it absolutely crushed it.

You’ve worked hard, learned to trust your abilities, and are getting stronger in the process!

Watching you realize what you’re capable of has been pretty damn awesome. 🩷

These women put in the work today! 💪

Four repeats up Gothic and an average pace of 18.9 mph according to my computer. That’s no joke.

Way to go, ladies! Your hard work all season is paying off, and it’s been so much fun watching everyone get stronger, faster, and more confident every week. I love it when a plan comes together 🙃🚴‍♀️🔥

This group is proof that the fastest way up a hill is laughing the whole way. 😂 The jokes, random conversations, and questionable comments that happen on these rides definitely stay on the rides… mostly. 🤐🚴‍♀️

Thankfully the air quality cleared up just enough for week two of hill repeats! It was fun watching everyone find their own way up the hill, small ring, big ring, standing, seated. You crush it each week.

✨ This week we’re celebrating someone special… Meg and her first full ride with the Shickluna Women’s Devo Project! 💙🚴‍♀️

We get asked all the time, “How do I get strong enough to ride with the group?” Our answer is always the same:

Ride your bike.

There isn’t a secret. You just have to keep showing up and putting time in the saddle.

Meg has been with us since week 1 this year, and rode for as long as she could. She came to Tuesday night laps and rode as long as she could. She and her husband have been riding several times a week, putting in the work when no one was watching.

This week, it all came together. She showed up, rode the entire ride, laughed, chatted, and absolutely crushed it!!! We couldn’t be prouder.

Meg, thank you for trusting the process. Your determination is an inspiration to every new cyclist who’s wondering if they’ll ever get there.

You will.

Adventure Ride #2. We’ve been talking about this route for a year, and today we finally did it again.

Last year, I think we had six mechanicals and enough stories to keep us entertained all year. This year? The ride went surprisingly smoothly. Our only real delay was sitting at a train crossing for what felt like 20 minutes.

We even took the opportunity to make friends with the local PD. Some people call it getting pulled over… we prefer to call it bike awareness outreach. 🚴‍♀️🚔💙 taken in Hamburg, New York by @velo.mello

Here we goooooo! 🚴‍♀️✨ Week 2 of our second training block and it was an absolute blast

Today we worked on 60 second pulls around the island at 20mph, focusing on keeping a smooth, consistent pace… because nobody likes a surgy group ride. 😅 Spending time on the front is one of the best ways to build confidence, strength, and trust in your abilities, and it’s been so fun watching everyone step up and settle into it.

One of the best things from the last two weeks has been seeing how aware everyone is becoming while STILL having fun, riding strong, and realizing just how fast the miles fly by when the group is working together.

A natural B group formed today and honestly, that was so exciting to see. Watching another group finding their rhythm was such a cool moment 💪

PSA: Please clean your bikes 🙃 If you flat and your bike is covered in dirt and chain lube, the loving people helping you end up wearing it too 😂 A clean bike is a happy bike 😉

Island life for us the next three weeks 🌉

These women did so great today going over the Grand Island Bridge and a lap of the island. Single paceline, everyone taking pulls, we’re starting to settle into those training ride vibes 👏

Too bad I forgot the phone magnet for a better bridge photo 😂 Next week.

Also decided I’m including all my photobomb photos in the ride recaps this season. Apparently that’s just part of the content now

About last weekend…

11 hours of wedding coverage
26 people in the bridal party
One incredibly sweet couple

And somehow, at the very end of it all, the bride asked for my camera and insisted on taking my photo. (Officially the first time I’ve ever handed a bride my camera 😂🥹)
