A corner billboard on a Victorian red brick building in central London, (could perfectly be the roads behind Harrods…) with a giant padel racket and ball breaking out over a black cab in the rain… ā˜”ļø

Building a cult brand always starts on the vision board. In reality, there is zero marketing budget for this kind of guerrilla marketing. But appointing myself creative director of Venture Padelist is easily the funnest role of all, so I am building the visual world we are stepping into anyway.

Turning padel into something architectural and desirable does not require an agency or seven figure media buys. It takes clear taste, an uncompromising aesthetic point of view, and the audacity to put your vision out there before the capital catches up.

The budget is zero. The ambition is not.

The best part of this post, the ā€œOnly fools and horsesā€ soundtrack. Thought it was perfect for this one 🤭

The Venture Padelist moodboard has officially been set.

A week of Premier Padel in London, 20,000 spectators, Olympia packed with padel lovers…

Naturally, we had to make the most of it.

Official Venture Padelist photoshoot? āœ…

Matcha?
Obviously.

Oversized T-shirt?
Required.

Founder lookalike?
Casting was surprisingly successful.

Now I just need to ask her to run the company while I go play some padel.

The older I get, the quicker I am to define the direction of Venture Padelist and the less I think I’m actually in the business of building padel courts.

I personally think I’m in the business of creating places where people want to spend quality time with loved ones or friends. The court is almost secondary. The real magic always happens afterwards when my team and I pack the tools, drive away the trucks and leave the property.

It’s all about the owner who stays and starts every Saturday morning at home with friends instead of driving to a club. It’s their children who grow up with a court in their back garden (I mean how lucky are they?) and don’t think twice about iPads and screen time after school. It’s the group of friends that suddenly have a one more reason to escape to a rental villa in the Mediterranean for an extra week every summer. It’s the boutique hotel where guests don’t just check in… they tell their friends they have to visit.

Luxury has definitely changed. People aren’t collecting more things, they’re collecting better EXPERIENCES. Which is also why I love what I do…

Every project starts with a conversation about the court but it ends with a completely different lifestyle. The clients I work with aren’t looking for the cheapest option, they’re looking for someone who understands that every detail matters. How the court sits within the landscape, how it feels as the sun starts to set. How it becomes part of the architecture rather than something placed beside it and how every guest remembers playing there.

That’s the difference and perhaps my favourite part of what I’m creating with Venture Padelist.

You’re not commissioning a court. You’re creating a place where memories will be made for years to come. Curating places where people come together, play together, laugh together, win games, lose games and make memories.

My sister just asked me what it’s like running Venture Padelist on my own. My answer was: ā€œI have absolutely no idea what day it is, if it’s bank holiday, August, and I don’t know what my job title is anymore.

Some days I’m… Founder. Business Development Manager. Project Manager. Marketing Director. Content Creator. Photographer. Drone pilot. Salesperson. Accountant. Customer Service. Logistics Coordinator. Copywriter. Website developer. Matcha maker…. All before lunchtime.

The funny thing is, when people see the finished project, they see the reel or video of the most beautiful padel court. But don’t or can’t even imagine the hundreds of tiny decisions, late night emails, client calls, spreadsheets, unexpected challenges and all the very last minute problem solving that made it all happen smoothly.

Being a solopreneur isn’t glamorous! Let’s be real. Yes thankfully AI helps but it’s still a lot… It’s answering emails on my phone from the airport. Reviewing contracts over breakfast. Taking all the client calls, while waiting for a delivery. It’s also celebrating a new project one minute… and wondering why your website has suddenly decided to stop working the next.

But the part I genuinely love: Every success is yours (and every mistake is also yours). Every client relationship is fulfilling because it’s personal…. When someone trusts me with a padel court project they may have dreamt about for ages, that’s a responsibility that never gets old.

So here’s to keeping it all together and building your own version of success, elegantly! Are you also a solopreneur, I’d love to hear what’s going on in your world.

I’m Patty and I curate and build dream padel courts for villas, estates, boutique hotels and extraordinary people. Built elegantly, wherever you are.

A few pictures from a gorgeous few days at Reserve Cup series, Puente Romano in Marbella. Feeling grateful I was able to jump on a plane after building the court and be able to enjoy top tier padel.

On a side note: This song is definitely the song of the trip. I’ve been listening to it on my headphones on repeat. For me music is moments and this song has been the soundtrack to the past few days. If you listen to the lyrics, it’s about spiritual endurance and faith in the face of adversity. It immediately spoke to my entrepreneurial journey with Venture Padelist.

Divine assurance: Realising that a higher power is guiding one’s life. Lines like ā€œGod, you never make mistakesā€ and ā€œI walked blind in faithā€ emphasise surrendering control to God/ the Universe.

Perseverance through hardship: even though I’m enjoying Marbella, this is a testament to resilience: ā€œFought through the wire / Walked through the fireā€. It acknowledges that the world may try to break you down, but faith provides the momentum to rise above it all.

Purpose and self belief: By asking, ā€œIf I was not meant to fly, You wouldn’t have made the sky,ā€

I feel like this song reinforces the idea that I am equipped with the exact strength needed to handle my life’s journey.

DAY THREE:

For the first time all week, I finally feel like I’m turning a corner with the tonsillitis. Still not 100%, but at least I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. The team, however, hasn’t slowed down for a second.

Today the turf started going down across the court. Roll after roll was carefully laid into position and weighted with sandbags while the finishing details continued around the structure…. And then came one of those moments I’ll never forget. My brand was welded onto the court. Seeing the logos installed across both ends of the base structure and on all four corners was surreal. What started as an idea, countless conversations, drawings, phone calls, setbacks, and problem solving sessions is now standing in front of me as a real, physical court.

It’s hard to explain the feeling of seeing something you’ve imagined for so long finally take shape. Three days ago this was just a lawn. Today it’s starting to look like a world class padel court. Massive credit to the team. Their work rate, attention to detail, and commitment have been incredible from day one. I love bringing them everyday a midday snack and picnic on court to keep them happy!

We’re still ahead of schedule…. And now it’s really starting to feel real. šŸŽ¾šŸ—ļø
