„Am I Comfortable Enough?“ war eine kraftvolle, bildstarke Performance, die patriarchale Erwartungen an Frauen hinterfragt und zur Diskussion über Selbstbehauptung, Grenzen und gesellschaftliche Rollenbilder einlädt.

Im Zentrum stand die Frage: Müssen Frauen „angenehm“ sein, um akzeptiert zu werden?

Im Anschluss diskutierten Künstlerinnen und Expertinnen mit dem Publikum über das Thema:
„Öffentliche Förderstrukturen – Empowerment oder Kontrolle?“

мир, наконец, открыл мне свои чертоги нежности: люди, не подававшие признаков пристрастия к уменьшительно-ласкательным, называли меня вчера так: звёздочка, девонька, зая, киса и цветочек! лет десять назад я бы выстрелила в них бровью, а сейчас — расплываюсь, как сыр на огне.

желаю себе любви и здоровья, остальное, как мы с моим внутренним боевым цветочком выяснили, я умею добывать сама

день рождения был отлётный и смешной:
читали мою новую пьесу «берлинский синдром»: читки для меня рутина, а тут, без репетиций, режиссёров, с безумными интервенциями и бинго, на общественной скамейке — всё было как надо в своей неправильности

первый текст, где нет ни одного персонажа из моего прежнего мира. два года назад я думала, что никогда так не смогу. выкладывать мне его пока нельзя, пишите, если хотите прочесть

а я пойду чахнуть над своими сокровищами:
варенье от дяди Алика, помада, два сертификата в разные книжные ♥️, леопардовые колготы, ручка с очень берлинским сюрпризом внутри, подушка для счастливых слёз и батальон комнатных растений 🪴

In May, I joined the incredible team for @_demidoss_ performance “Am I Comfortable Enough?” in Berlin. I’m eager to share about the second show, as we hold discussions with experts and the audience after each performance, focusing on different themes each time.

For those who haven’t seen it, “Am I Comfortable Enough?” immerses us in a patriarchal world through the creators’ stories. Unfortunately, many social constructs still dictate that a woman must be “convenient”—like furniture. The actresses, through costumes by @venera_kazarova and choreography by @andriyashkin.alexandr, portray the life stories of 3 women on stage.

The second show included a discussion on “Women and Safety,” with human rights activists and representatives of the Kazakh community. This highlighted the severity of the issue. @inncendy, @diconai_______ , @kseniameshkova and @simbstagram discussed with the audience the alarming statistics of how much more frequently women face violence compared to men.

The performance explores violence against women in families and society. We are not surprised by these stories in patriarchal countries with conservative cultures. However, a significant challenge was the discussion with the Berlin audience.

One major question is about creating a safe space for women’s voices. Today, it’s frightening to talk about harassment and violence in any society. These topics are still stigmatized, making it scary and dangerous for women to speak out. Another issue is that narrow expertise often outweighs unethical behavior. Even when women report their experience of violence, the perpetrator is not punished.

The more I watch our performance and discussions, the more I want to do it again and again. We need to speak repeatedly in different communities about patriarchy and how we work every day to make it easier to be a woman, not harder to be a man. The first step is making experiences visible. Then, in an open and safe environment, we discuss, speak out, and develop solutions.

Last week, we presented @_demidoss_ stunning performance “Am I Comfortable Enough?” twice in Berlin. After 15 years in tech startups, some may wonder why I’m an assistant director for a theater production. I believe that both technology and art drive progress, and art can address pressing ethical and social issues.

“Am I Comfortable Enough?” explores patriarchy through personal stories, revealing that women are still expected to be “comfortable” like furniture. The actresses @maria_small_stories and @maribeattheatre6, with costumes by @venera_kazarova and choreography by @andriyashkin.alexandr, bring the stories of three women to life. The most terrifying part is seeing myself in all three.

Being part of this performance is vital for me as a woman and a mother. I hope it becomes irrelevant by the time my daughter grows up.

After the performance, discussions with the audience and invited experts focused on women in business. We addressed deep questions: how to influence children and adults to move beyond old beliefs, work with stereotypes, and what we can do daily.

Performing at @gruener.salon.bln by @volksbuehne_berlin, led by wonderful women, was especially important. This theater, dedicated to discussing social issues, is the kind I fell in love with long ago.

Three stories and 60 minutes of discussion are a step towards a fairer society. It’s an important step that allows us to lean on each other, look around, and keep moving forward. This performance is an emotional experience that can enhance discussions and help develop action plans both personally and in business. Photos by @nataliazabarova.jpg
