Diluted samples don’t pass.

They get flagged, and tampering is treated as its own violation, separate from the actual result.

1. Labs test for creatinine and specific gravity. Diluted samples get flagged automatically.
2. A “dilute” result isn’t a pass. Most employers treat it as a failed test or require an immediate retest.
3. Adding anything to the cup, water included, is considered tampering. That’s a separate violation from the drug test itself.
4. Some employers terminate for tampering alone, regardless of what the actual result would’ve been.
5. DOT-regulated tests have even stricter consequences. Tampering can mean an automatic refusal-to-test violation, which carries the same penalty as a positive.

It doesn’t hide anything. It only adds a second problem to the first one.
