Rehab for the misunderstood. Release for the wild at heart.

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Okay we can FINALLY share this 😭🦝🏈

Last month, our friends at the Tennessee Titans invited Gizzard to come meet T-Rac and share a little about the work we do at Vermin Sanctuary.

Obviously she took the assignment very seriously.

Raccoons are Tennessee’s state wild animal, and getting to pair Gizzard with a character that so many Tennesseans already know and love is such a special opportunity to get people excited about our native wildlife. We want people to learn how to peacefully coexist with their wild neighbors, what to do if they find a critter that might need help, and why the wild should remain in the wild.

We know Gizzard is cute. Like, REALLY cute. But raccoons do not make good pets. Gizzard’s job as an educational ambassador is to help us spread that message and hopefully prevent more wild animals from ending up in situations like hers. Keep the wild WILD!

We are so incredibly honored to be included. 🥹🦝💙

Keep an eye out for more to come with T-Rac and Gizzard! 👀🦝🏈

Not every rescue is a rescue.

This finder paused and reached out first. With a little guidance, the “stuck critter” flew off unharmed.

Before you intervene
Wait and watch.

Visibly injured or confirmed orphaned

Spring is coming. Wildlife will be everywhere. Reach out if you’re unsure. 🖤 taken in Nashville, Tennessee by @verminsanctuary

What is Vermin Sanctuary? 🦝

We’re a wildlife rescue specializing in the animals most places overlook — raccoons, opossums, groundhogs, and skunks. We take in orphaned and injured wildlife, rehabilitate them, and give them a second chance at life in the wild.

Right now, that means caring for 22 baby raccoons getting ready for soft release — a safe, semi-wild space where they build survival skills before we open the door for good.

How you can support us:
✨ Our Amazon wishlist (linked in bio) — enclosure materials and supplies these kits need before release day
✨ Donate directly (linked in bio) — helps cover vaccine costs and building materials for their enclosures

Can’t donate? Sharing this video helps just as much — repost or send it to someone who loves wildlife. Every share gets us closer. 🦨 taken in Nashville, Tennessee by @verminsanctuary

George Porter Jr. of the Meters & Runnin’ Pardners are bringing a little NOLA magic to the Eastside Bowl on November 14!

Even sweeter, a portion of the proceeds will benefit Vermin Sanctuary, helping us continue rescuing, rehabilitating, and releasing Tennessee wildlife. 🦝💗

When I was 15, my dad showed me Harold and Maude, and I learned two things:

1. I really liked Cat Stevens.
2. One day, I was gonna drive a hearse.

Today, both things are true. 🖤

Vermin Sanctuary events just leveled up! 🦝

And yes, the lights work. 🚨

Biggest thank you to the best big brothers in the world for makin’ this dream come true. by @verminsanctuary

The never-ending baby season 🫠

🦝 Two new baby raccoons, because apparently we’re doing baby season in October now. If all goes well after quarantine, these two will be overwintered with our girl Bonnie!

🪵 Our habituated groundhog developed a limp. One missing nail bed, some wound care, and a groundhog wrestling match later, she should be good as new. New wildlife rehab vest patch unlocked. 🥵

💗 And meet Granny Charlotte, who came to us from Nashville Humane. She’s as old as a dinosaur but not in distress, so we’re not sure how long she’ll be with us. However long it is, she’ll have the best end of life possumable.

And that’s just a few of the intakes we’ve gotten in the last 48 hours. 🫠

Help us keep saying yes. Link in bio to donate. taken in Nashville, Tennessee by @verminsanctuary

We’re still not over the Critter Car Wash last weekend. 🥹

Unbelievably grateful for every single person who helped make this happen. @theunderdognashville for hosting us, every volunteer who picked up a sponge and washed cars all damn day, our DJs, and the absolutely unbelievable group of musicians who showed up and played for the critters.

The lineup that came through that parking lot was honestly insane.

@lamontlandersofficial left the car wash after absolutely shredding to go make his Grand Ole Opry debut.

@patarjdrums left and headed straight to the airport to get back out with Cory Wong.

Our honky-tonk DJs @honkytonkininqueens (@moonshine.nyc & @prisonrodeo), in town from NYC, jumped in to spin records for us.

And that’s just the tip of the iceberg of the lineup.

Thank you to everyone who donated their time to help us raise money for wildlife. Y’all showed UP!

The money raised will cover rabies vaccinations for the raccoons in our care and go toward building more outdoor enclosures so we can get more animals through rehab and back into the wild.

It really does take a village, and we are so incredibly grateful to be part of this one.

Thank you for showing up for us, believing in what we’re building, and helping us keep helping the vermin. 🦝💗
