Get outside!!! The burst of colors this fall has been the best in years, and we took advantage of it this week with our friends from @zacksplace1 on the rail trail in Lebanon, NH. One of our favorite spots! Thanks to OG volunteer Photos By Nanci for continuing to capture the smiles and adventures for us with her brilliant photography.

We're wrapping up our fall programs this week BUT winter kickoff begins soon! Look for our reservation system to go live mid-October for lessons at all of our locations for the Winter 2026-2027 season. More info is at vermontadaptive.org. by @vermontadaptive

It was a beautiful fall day at the Vermont Council on Rural Development’s @vtrural Leadership Summit at @vermontstate_castleton! The @nekcollaborative was honored to moderate a conversation on Safe Streets, Accessible Recreation & Inclusive Mobility alongside friends from @vermontadaptive @vtcil @vermontlandtrust and @uvtrails

We were also grateful to celebrate longtime @vtrural leader Paul Costello and his well-deserved Lifetime Achievement Award.

And what a joy to watch Kate Baxter share statewide about @vermonts_northeast_kingdom’s own Lunenburg community and its incredible efforts! taken in Vermont State University Castleton Campus by @vermontadaptive

🍂 A BIG MILESTONE FOR NORTH BRANCH 🚲

As the leaves fell on Sunday morning a volunteer crew put the final screws into a bridge on Sap Sucker opening the majority of North Branch’s terrain to adaptive bikes.

A year ago, MAMBA partnered with VMBA and Vermont Adaptive to identify ways to make our trails work for more riders. Since then, we’ve widened seven bridges, expanded tight switchbacks, and improved narrow, off-camber sections to make North Branch more accessible to wider-tracked bikes.

There’s more work to do, but that last screw marks an important milestone: North Branch is now an adaptive-friendly trail system.

For MAMBA, this project is about removing barriers and making the outdoor recreation we love accessible to more people in our community. We’re proud that trails we built six years ago can now be enjoyed by even more riders.

This project wouldn’t have happened without an incredible group of partners and volunteers. We want to especially thank Dave & Ezra of Black Cat Builders, Montpelier Parks, Cabot Creamery, VMBA, Vermont Adaptive, Onion River Outdoors and Louis Arevalo who helped ensure the success of this project.

If you want to help MAMBA continue to build fun, accessible, inclusive, connected trails that strengthen our community, become a member or donate through the links in our bio.

See you out there!

“I made it back safe and sound,” writes White Wolf, who is blind and hiking the Long Trail in sections while raising money for Vermont Adaptive. “The trip was intended to be 4 days and 3 nights covering 11.6 to 12 miles and summiting 3 peaks over 4,000 feet. The start date of this first leg of the trip was postponed by 5 days. By the time 09/27/26 came around, a nor-easter was roaring up the east coast and heading this way. I wasn’t going to postpone the start date again due to the time of year. So, at 10:30 a.m. on 09/27 I hit the Long Trail at App Gap on Rt 17 in Vermont, heading south. It was cloudy, cool and windy at the Gap. But no rain. I started off with a backpack that was heavier than I had hoped for....”

Read about his whole hike from this past week in his blog, check out the beautiful photos, watch his video journals, and donate to support if you can. Thank you, White Wolf, for sharing your experiences and getting the word out that anything is possible!

Apple picking has kicked off a long line of outings and activities for Veterans this fall with our Veteran Ventures program. Huge shout out to Veteran-owned @chapinorchard in Essex for hosting us (and for the yummy apples!).

Who do you know that would benefit from programs like indoor and outdoor rock climbing, fishing, equine, bowling, bird watching, and more?

All veterans participate for free but reservations are required. Check out the Veteran Ventures link in bio or email Misha C. Pemble -Belkin, SSG (USA Retired), the Veteran Ventures program coordinator, at veterans@vermontadaptive.org. by @vermontadaptive
