Instagram is hard and I forget to post, so here is proof of life (and saxophone!!) 🎷 this is me blowing on an original of mine. I’ve been cooking up a lot of music with these folks and I can’t wait to share eventually 👨🏻‍🍳 By the way, I’m in grad school now ?! I don’t really understand how time works by @veronisonic

It has been an honor getting to study at Harvard with the greatest teachers and peers. As my time here is coming to a close, I’d like to share some moments from my senior thesis, a suite of original music called American Tonic: Songs of Insulin and Invisibility. Thank you to my thesis advisor @vijayiyer for supporting me and encouraging me to seek honesty, always ❤️ by @veronisonic

The past few weeks have been so very special!! I got to play duo at @montereyjazzfestival with the one and only @dehmannuel, and I also had the privilege of playing with the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis. What a dream come true. In the midst of that, I also finished recording my debut record, which I’ve teased a litttleee bit here… 😊 This business is not always easy or motivating, but when I get the honor to work with such inspiring artists, it always reminds me why I make music in the first place 💗 I can’t WAIT to share more music with all of you soon! by @veronisonic

Highlights so far from @justintimebway! What a joy and privilege to be in this band. I’m so grateful to these humans for being incredibly easy to work with, killer musicians, and the kindest people out there. Congratulations to @andrewresnick18 and @michaelthurber on their Tony nomination for these great orchestrations, thank you to @davidwlai for bringing this all together, and shoutout to @markushowellmusic @andrew_gould for being the best section mates. Come check our show out at Circle in the Square!! taken in Circle in the Square Theatre by @veronisonic

Today I lost one of the most important people in my life, Phil Thompson (pictured on the right)… or as we affectionately called him, Doc. Doc was one of the greatest teachers I’ve ever had. He is the reason I am a multi-woodwind player. From age 14, he taught me the repertoire and possibilities of the flute and clarinet — and always emphasized not to see them as merely “doubles.” He believed in me when I didn’t believe in myself. He told me that practicing should be 60% playing and 40% thinking… and always forced me to be incredibly intentional about my musical practice. He was one of the best woodwind players I’ve ever known. More importantly, he was truly a kind person. As much as music meant to him, he also understood that loving and nurturing the whole person is the best thing a mentor can do. He always encouraged me to follow my curiosities, no matter what it was. Doc, you’re one of my heroes, and words can’t express the impact you’ve had on me. To say you will be missed is an understatement. by @veronisonic
