“Why We in the ‘United States’ Must Join the Falasteen Intifada” is the second video of our series, “Unmuted Echoes”

The Arabic word “intifada” means “uprising”, “rebellion”, or “a resistance movement”. It also means “a shaking off” or “shivering”. In this New Year of the Snake, let us shed or shake off all that harm us or trap us: from toxic ways of thought, to evil colonial powers like the fraudulent Zionist state.

We must admire the snake for slithering through debris, rubble and any obstruction with grace, silence and consistency. Let us move together and slither through swelling fascism towards true justice, democracy, liberation and progress – from Frisco to Falasteen.

In this video, we feature Renad Abudiah. Renad is 23 years-old from Khan Younis in the Gaza strip. She has been pursuing the last year of her education despite the genocide she and her family have endured since October 2023. Renad’s family’s home was turned to rubble and ashes in the genocide. She and her family of 10, including 2 children, have been displaced multiple times, living together in a single tent. Her brother Mahmoud is still recovering from a head injury after being hit in a bombing. He needs more medical support. Their family has dealt with the dread of death each day in the genocide.

Please read Renad’s full story, and support the relief efforts for her & her family now |

To many in our world, each moment is so much more precious, delicate and crucial. "Unmuted Echoes" is a film series based on our videochats with our siblings in Gaza who are surviving the "israeli" genocide. Through this series, we uplift and amplify the many voices calling to us from Gaza. We share the sacred stories our siblings entrust us with. We call on our community to support our many siblings in critical conditions. And we echo the call for all of humanity to fight for the liberation of Falasteen, from the river to the sea. We are not free until we are all free.

Sara Afana is a 16 year-old poet from Gaza, who in the midst of genocide, finds solace in her diary. Sara’s words not only chronicle her experiences; they are also a voice for millions of children enduring the horrors of genocide. Despite the relentless chaos around her, Sara’s poems are a testament to the undying dreams of children everywhere. Separated from her family due to the genocide, Sara clings to the hope of reuniting with them and completing her education.
