Introducing more of the human of VBD ✨ And also, something I’ve learned — that when we set impossible standards and demand absolute control over our environment, we build walls instead of doors. Demanding perfection from the spaces and people around us doesn't bring peace; it gives space for isolation to grow. The nuance of life is that it is messy, it can be organized but never fully controlled, and it takes a village of imperfect people to try, to start, to help, to show up as they are, to contribute. As a girl who was born at the west coast isn’t it true that the whole beach is full of granules of sand and it takes the collective of all those grains for the sand we walk on to exist? I was inspired by @fiddleleafmarketing to put out an introduction and create a domino effect. 🫶 All are welcome. UPDATE: Coming Soon - Winter 2026/27. ✨ Officially launching Viable By Design Creative Studio LLC with a website, resources, refined client experience rooted in collaboration, flexible design packages, brand story discovery and more for small businesses in a variety of stages. Website set to be live in summer, date to be announced soon. After 8.5 years in a design/print production agency and a 3 year soft-launch as a freelancer operation, this year calls for the next chapter in this journey I’ve been on and creating as now a SMALL BUSINESS OWNER. ✨ I’m incredibly excited (and humbled) to share! Have you ever heard the phrase that when you serve everyone you actually serve no one? Now, while this might be a blanket statement it’s quite possible to be serving some while trying to serve everyone however, is it intentional, impactful, and the best fit? I can look back over the last 14 or so years since being in the design industry, and my idea of growth certainly has changed and pivoted. While growth can mean many different things to each of us I want to share that a part of the growth I have seen be the most insightful for me in my journey is that of by unbecoming. Our lives consist of many fractions of our experiences and our environments which have shaped our perspective. Each of ours SO unique. And with our businesses that uniqueness might not appeal to everyone and it’s totally OK. There’s enough room for us all. I want to hear why you started. What you stand for and believe in. Who you really want to help. What you’re building beyond the sale or cost. The little details that matter to you. I assure you they may be little but oh so powerful. I want to hear the story behind what you make & the reason that you care SO much. I want to hear where you’re hoping this thing goes. We can be in our businesses too much and too close to it to define it in a way that’s digestible and approachable for others sometimes. These types of things that we uncover during a conversation about story and discovery will give us WAY more creative direction to work from than any swatch book of color samples for shaping & creating a cohesive, meaningful visual identity system for your brand. Because ultimately the goal is to spread your story and share your light. Your business rests on the foundation of a true gift and service you are giving to the world. It needs to be told. When you’re trying to build something meaningful you can make “the little things matter” about the small moments that quietly shape your business. The little things have a quiet way of becoming the things that you and I remember about a person, brand, business. I find that more often than not, they are the mundane and utterly ordinary things in the everyday (day-to-day) that make up our own version of consistency. Many little things working together until they need to adapt. This way of simply being and flowing starts with understanding the depth that lies within your business, not just what’s seen on the surface. Sometimes it’s subtle, sometimes it’s direct. Ultimately, it’s a combination of many many genuine and unfiltered moments that make your unique perspective and your unique business different and SO needed in the world. I’ve gotten to a point in my career (15 years and counting) where I’m less interested in being the designer who can do everything, and much more interested in being the designer who really understands why something needs to exist in the first place. I want to understand what YOU’RE building. Why you care about it and what you’re trying to change. What kind of perspective or story are you wanting to share? People who encounter your business, what do you want or hope they will notice and feel? Caring deeply about what’s inside something, the outside should have something to say about that too. ✨That’s where storytelling and design come together to create a cohesive brand experience that’s consistent and adapts as your business grows. A holistic approach essentially! I will be opening up brand audits later this Fall, which will give you access to schedule time to get some feedback from me 1:1 of your current brand strategy (if any) and business visuals. Post-audit you will be given some strong points to consider (both pros and cons) and some actionable tips you can put into practice right away. This is coming from my experience in the design industry for 15 years. Something I love, and it hasn’t been the top priority this year. Nonetheless, any time is a good time to start again. ✨Shamrock Run 2026 earlier this year. First time doing that one in particular. Long hours as a creative whether at my desk or in the community means I’m intentional about little things that help me feel good throughout the day.
