This house became a home once I started designing based on how I wanted it to FEEL instead of how I wanted it to look. Here are a few of my favorite corners of the house. A whole mood 🤎.

If you’re the kind of person who feels easily overstimulated, this is what I’d make sure to incorporate into your home design: PART 2

6. Choose furniture with soft, organic forms — rounded edges and curved shapes can feel gentler than sharp, highly angular pieces.

7. Leave negative space — not every wall, shelf, or corner needs to be filled. Make sure to leave some space for the eyes to rest.

8. Control visual distractions — when possible, try to conceal cords, electronics, excessive patterns, and open storage.

9. Use texture instead of excessive pattern — i love pattern but you are typically able to get the same effect by layering linen, wood, woven materials, and stone for interest without overstimulation.

10. Emphasize sensory comfort — soft fabrics, comfortable seating, pleasant scents, and any kind of softer materials will usually feel more inviting and calming.

11. Let the home breathe — open pathways and uncluttered surfaces can create a literal and psychological sense of spaciousness. Don’t try to decorate every corner of the home and make sure the is an open pathway from the front door to the rest of the home.

For 1-5, please go check out one of my most recent reels!🤎

I think psychology and design work perfectly together. Because design is more than just designing a space that looks good to the eye - it’s about designing a space tailored to how you want to feel.

If you are the kind of person that becomes easily overstimulated, these are some things I would definitely add to your home’s design: PART 1

1. Prioritize natural materials — wood, linen, stone, jute, and ceramics add warmth without visual noise.

2. Reduce harsh lighting — layer soft lamps, sconces, and natural light instead of relying on bright overhead lighting.

3. Create clear zones — give everything a purpose and a designated place to reduce mental decision-making.

4. Bring in nature — plants, natural textures, outdoor views, and organic shapes can make a room feel grounding.

5. Design a dedicated retreat station — a reading corner, meditation space, or cozy chair where you can decompress.

Adding more to the list in PART 2! 🤎

Why does our brain like repetition in design?

* It can create a feeling of calm.
When visual elements relate to one another instead of competing for attention, a space can feel less visually chaotic.

* It helps us recognize patterns.
Pattern recognition is a fundamental way our brains make sense of the world around us—and good design can work with that instinct.

* It creates a sense of order.
Our brains naturally look for patterns and organization, so repeated elements can make a space feel more cohesive.

* It makes a room easier to process.
When colors, shapes, materials, or architectural details repeat, there are fewer competing visual signals for the brain to interpret.

Si algo puedo confirmar es que esperar a que todo esté perfecto para empezar, nunca es el mejor plan. Empecemos y luego mejoramos 🤎

Describe your perfect Saturday morning: i’ll go first.

Waking up slowly, having coffee at home, yoga or a long walk, finding inspiration (today we went by a sample sale at @calimiahome and loved everything), then grabbing lunch outdoors. Went by @buccancoralgables today and got the beef carpaccio sandwich💯.

Because it doesn’t last long - so we might as well live in a colorful lived-in house while we’re at it.

When I bought this house, my first thought was: Yay! My second thought was: what did we just do?

As soon as we moved in, we knew we were way in over our head. A lot more work than we thought and a lot more damage to repair.

But here we are - with a finished project (until we decide to go again because why not?) and it feels SO GOOD.

Not everyone will agree, but for me location beats size everytime. This is how location can impact your quality of life more than the size of your home 🏡

• Your daily routine — Being close to work, school, family, or the places you frequent can give you back valuable time.

• Your surroundings — Parks, beaches, walkable streets, restaurants, and nature can become an extension of your home.

• Less time in the car — A convenient location can mean fewer hours commuting and more time for the people and things you love.

• Your sense of community — The neighborhood you live in can shape your social life, connections, and sense of belonging.

• How you spend your free time — Living near activities you enjoy makes it easier to actually incorporate them into your lifestyle.

• Your everyday environment — Light, greenery, views, architecture, and the feeling of the neighborhood all influence how a place feels.

• The house can change — You can renovate, redesign, reconfigure, and personalize the space over time.

• The location can’t. That’s why sometimes choosing the right location matters more than choosing the biggest house.

More square footage doesn’t always mean more quality of life. Sometimes, it’s about what surrounds you. 🤎
