What has happened to our children—and what if the real problem isn’t them, but us?

In After the Flood, internationally bestselling author Susanna Tamaro turns her attention to one of the most urgent questions of our time: the growing crisis among children and adolescents. Anxiety, loneliness, violence, digital dependency and a profound loss of meaning are increasingly shaping young lives. But rather than blaming a generation in distress, Tamaro asks adults to confront a more uncomfortable possibility: what kind of world have we created for them?

We have given children unprecedented freedom, technology and material comfort, she argues, while gradually withdrawing many of the things they need most: boundaries, guidance, meaningful relationships and adults willing to take responsibility for educating them. In a culture dominated by consumption, competition, screens and constant stimulation, childhood itself risks becoming increasingly fragile.

Drawing on a lifetime of observation and reflection, Tamaro makes an impassioned case for recovering the forgotten wisdom of education—not as control or discipline for its own sake, but as the patient work of helping a young person discover who they are and how to live in the world.

Provocative yet ultimately hopeful, After the Flood is both a diagnosis of a generation in crisis and a call to adults to reclaim their responsibility. If we want to save our children, Tamaro argues, we must first change the world we are asking them to grow up in.

E qui la visione è cellulare. taken in Torino,Italy by @vickisatlow

Esther knows what it’s like to be unloved. When a devastating revelation sends her into the mountains, the bees and a house of wounded women teach her that perhaps home is not where we come from, but where even the broken parts of us are given a place.

What if the internet became a world you could actually get lost in?
One warm winter morning, Mary disappears without a trace — swallowed by the K5000, a mysterious device that opens the door to a virtual world.

To bring her home, the Courtyard Gang, led by fearless Matilde and brilliant Enea, takes the ultimate risk: they dive into the web themselves.

But this is no ordinary adventure. Along the way, they’ll face dazzling influencers, wild gamers, faceless haters and the darkest corners of the dark web. Each level is harder than the last, and getting through it will take courage, quick thinking and, above all, friendship.

Because in the digital world, knowing how to click faster or knowing more than everyone else isn’t enough.

You have to know how to stay together.

A kaleidoscopic adventure between reality and the virtual world — exploring the many faces of the web and showing that ingenuity, awareness and friendship may be the ultimate keys to finding the way home.
