Within the first hour, before the welcome circle, before anyone really knew each other, some of the women had already opened their journals. Sitting by the pool, pen moving, like the page was waiting for them. This is why we gave a journal as a welcome gift. Not as a souvenir. As a tool. We gave them the space and the journal and got out of the way. There’s something about writing it down. The worry that’s been looping in your head for months, the thing you want for your life but haven’t said out loud to anyone. It stops being a feeling you carry and starts being something you can actually look at. This is the part of the retreat that doesn’t make the highlight reel but it’s where the real shift starts.
