10 years of running in Calgary—and every step with has been so filled with purpose, growth, and heart. All because this community has uplifted me, inspired me, and impacted my life in such a positive way. With all to come full circle by running the @calgarymarathon 10K to represent these 10 damn beautiful years. + buildin’ x kickin’ it back into the community that’s raised me through shakeouts & cheers— my heart is truly so so so full 💓

I’m beyond grateful for every km, every moment, and everyone who’s been part of this journey there are so many of you that have made this life richer just by sharing your stories, energy & strides from week to week to years way back when I was just getting my yyc-legs circa 2015. 💓👟💓This is a love poem for the Calgary Running Community💓👟💓

Running shoes are red,
Laces are blue,
The Calgary running community is sweet,
I love you.

In all seriousness I am not a poet crew but damn I LOVE THE CALGARY RUNNING COMMUNITY.

Honestly I don’t know where I would be if I didn’t have this supportive and vibrant community to lean on and grow within. And let me tell you that if you are thinking about joining in on all the fun but are feeling a little nervous just know that all of us have been in your shoes before and all it takes is to take that first step forward to just show up to hang out with 150+ of your newest friends right here in the yyc 😇. Before you know it you’ll be right in the action— moving, grooving and cheering on all those around you as we all 🪩✨get it get it✨🪩 for this 2025 sweaté season x all future ones ahead.

If you do not know where to start please do reach out to me directly and let’s get you in with the community. There is so much to choose from (s/o my first loves @yycruncrew x @eightyeightbrewco + @runcalgary + @crushcamp) and there is one hundred precent a place for you here.

Among other exciting goings on for this year we are going to be putting the party into the race for the @calgarymarathon 10K. heart so damn full 🥰 | vicmara 🍯

marathons damn pull thru on magic. where every step of the race becomes a shared journey. the pavement of the course comes alive with the spirit of runners, each pushing their own limits into the unknown. before accomplishing the reward of crossing the finish line to cap off a training szn they have worked so hard on.

this run @runvictoriamarathon was truly unreal. to see & genuinely feel @bridgetanita25 @reginaldspacejam @stumpy86 @ovikalo @glowinthedarksocks relentless efforts (my crew mates) grind through the grit of this testing course was so inspirational. i could not had made it to the start line without them. bonded af. every km was a reflection of this past year. all those who i had the honour of sharing it with. i am so grateful. i’ll say it over & again running is not just an individual sport it is the breath of a collective, a crew, a sport where we celebrate our shared unreal energy chasing those miles, clinking glasses & dunking croissants. and truly so much more that extends outside of those laced kicks.

and to my @yycruncrew fam you really showed the heck up sunday racing halves, 8ks & 5ks then to giver again with cheers and glowing energy out on the course where it was so needed. km 41K was electric.

if you’ve made it this far i’ll share the stats but it’s not why i run. if you know i run for all that is above. that community x those vibes ✨

R2R PP!!!

Been out here testing the legs, pelvic floor, and lungs... and wow, what a ride. But more than anything, I’m just so grateful to be moving again under this beautiful summer sun.

Over the next little while I’ll be sharing what returning to running postpartum looks like for me. No rush, likely sporadic (because baby) just building for the long game... or should I say, the long run.

These runs didn’t happen overnight. They’ve been built on weeks of walks, strength, and trusting the process.

Also!!! To all the moms joining Walk Club this September, I can’t wait to hang with you. The response has been incredible, and I know we’re going to have the best time moving, connecting, and building community together. So stayyyyyy tuned crew 💛

nurtured every step of the way 🌱🥰

Having a baby is so much more than the moment they arrive.. it’s becoming pregnant, being pregnant, bringing them into the world, and caring for them through postpartum. It takes a village long before the little one is here. Not just to raise a baby, but to hold, support, and uplift a mother as she grows one 🤍

I truly felt cared for every phase of this journey in becoming a mother. All because of an incredible support system of caregivers and resources, I was able to keep running all the way up to 35 weeks (something that meant so much to me physically, mentally, and emotionally during pregnancy), becoming pregnant, feeling excited for the labour and have the tools for postpartum. That didn’t happen by chance. It happened because I was surrounded by people who guided me, strengthened me, and believed in me every step of the way. They helped me feel strong enough to keep showing up as myself through the ups & downs.

And ultimately, it helped bring the greatest love into our lives, baby Izabela 💗

let’s make a pact, crew. we’re romanticizing the winter run szn. from those first frosty strides carving fresh tracks in untouched snow, to the cozy sips we share during the café après we are so lucky to get to move through the blissful chill. who is in??? 🩵❄️

feat. I was so lucky to spend time with the @lululemon Chinook team today (s/o to @spencerbritten @_amycahill), to get winter-ready with the newest run gear and the coziest post sweat layers. Feeling sooooo excited for the kms ahead as the temps drop and all the magic this season brings. + stay tuned on stories to see what I went home with today… one fabric rhymes with mumu ❄️👟🎇
