Let me make my perspective clear : our continued reliance on oil and gas is killing us and it is long past the time for a full green transition. However, in the most pragmatic sense if we are told this industry cannot disappear overnight the LEAST we can do is stop the billions of taxpayer handouts to oil and gas companies. When we give these corporations unchecked handouts we are by proxy signing off on the harms brought about by them. We know the oil and gas industry is linked to violence against nature as well as gender based violence and a storing contributor to the missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls and two spirit crisis. Young people across canada have called on our government to end corporate welfare to an industry that is killing us and tie any remaining subsidies to strict emissions targets. I was beyond honoured to have the opportunity to serve as witness at the @sencanada standing Senate Committee for Energy, Environment and Natural Resources. I will post more soon!#oilandgas #climatechange #cyca2025 #cdnpoli by @victoriadoingstuff

my comments to the City of Winnipeg Executive Policy Committee in opposition to the Safe Access to Vulnerable Infrastructure Bylaw. The city EPC voted unanimously to take the bylaw as information. there will be no vote at city council for this bylaw/it will not continue. That doesn't mean it's time to rest however, we need to be vigilant in standing up against the repressive, federal bill C-9, which city councillors have pivoted to following the change in course with this bylaw. Bill C-9 is another bill which purports to keep Canadians safe, but is just a free pass to trample on the constitutional rights of the people. Bill C-9 fails to address safety in a minimally invasive way to our rights. Thank you to everyone who wrote to their city councillor, posted, shared, talked about the potential City of Winnipeg anti-protest bylaw, or came to out to speak against it - this victory is thanks to all of you! In case you missed it, the City of Winnipeg executive policy committee was set to vote on a bylaw that would have proposed a ban on protests in the city. If the bylaw had passed, fines of up to $5000 could be issued to every person who shows up to Round Dances, rallies, group bike rides, marches, vigils or other gatherings. #winnipeg #winnipegcitycouncil #protestbylaw #billc9 #bubblezone by @victoriadoingstuff

I am so incredibly pleased and happy to announce that the University of Manitoba, in collaboration with UMSU, will be stocking campus bathrooms with free pads and tampons. The Menstrual Product Pilot Project is a year-long initiative that will see dispensers with free products installed in 8 washrooms on the Fort Garry campus, and 1 bathroom each on the Bannatyne and William Norrie Centre sites. This is something I have been working on since day 1 of my term and am so happy to see it come to fruition. This is a great step on the path of eliminating period poverty and stigma surrounding menstruation. Period products are not luxury, they are a necessity. No one should have to sacrifice their education, or anything for that matter, simply because they are menstruating. This landmark announcement would not be possible without the help of @christinenya , the UMSU Women's Representative. Thank you so much for your efforts always. It is so empowering to be in a position that allows me to work alongside passionate, talented individuals, particularly strong women 🙂. It is so inspiring to be a part of a university community that not only upholds a strong standard of higher education, but also recognizes and works to address the many barriers to accessible education. Thank you to everyone who has supported me in making this achievement possible. Mark Carney sent a senior official to the trump summit on left wing terr0rism …. What does this have in common with the start of the h0locaust? When we demonized one group for standing with the oppressed & currently persecuted , we can leverage that fear to eliminate anyone who disagrees with us. Very scary for all the brave people who continue to stand for what is right during this 3rd wave red scare (re: cuba) - people who continue to stand for what is right despite risk of asserts being frozen , deportation, arrest , surveillance and even risking their lives (ie the many people who have been 🔫 by IC E for resisting the unconstitutional apprehensions going on and unjust conditions in the deten tion centres) . Real dangers for progressive Canadians here and our govt rather spend time on dignifying this w our prescence than dealing w the very real rise of righ4 wing vi0lent e xtremis m in our country. This is kind of way too much info to keep under 3 mins but it literally was already cutting my audio and not allowing me to add more clips even with the 20 minute limit I wonder what that’s about 😩😵‍💫#cdnpoli #politics #history by @victoriadoingstuff

some thoughts. I will add as well that this is not the only disqualifying factor of Graham platner just adds to his long list of issues … Naz¡ tattoo , participation in the widespread war crimes in Iraq … There’s also literally countless examples of stuff like this where women face the ugly side of what are supposed to be liberation movements - not mentioned in this vid is Anna Mae Pictou Aquash, a prominent Mi'kmaq activist who participated in the 1973 71-day armed standoff at Wounded Knee. She was kidnapped, interrogated, and fatally sh0t in late 1975 by members of the American Indian Movement (AIM) who falsely suspected her of being an FBI informant. #believesurvivors #believewomen #democrats #feminism #politics by @victoriadoingstuff

@350canada national day of action standing up against the so called “Canadian” governments’ continued fast tracking of harmful, dangerous, exploitative resource extraction projects that put our future in jeopardy. We the people say NO MORE PIPELINES, NO MORE INVESTMENTS IN OIL & GAS, AN END TO EXTRACTIVE MINING THAT FUELS THE WAR MACHINE! We cannot “build canada strong” by tramping on the human rights of its inhabitants! The Canadian government’s latest Pipeline MOU with Alberta is the final nail in the coffin for Canada’s climate policy. It’s time to rise up and stop Big Oil from winning everything on their wishlist.Today, on June 25th, 40+ communities are rising up for the national day of action calling on Members of Parliament to sign an MOU with the people! We call on our MPs to sign a deal to protect our communities, our climate, and our future. The office of MP duguid locked their doors, refused to take our calls or meet with us to even acknowledge the MOU. I guess there is “no opposition” , if you ignore the opposition right? We call on our government to do right by the people and fund our futures instead of lining the pockets of big oil millionaires. #climateaction #climatecrisis #oilandgasindustry by @victoriadoingstuff

Queer students call on the University of Manitoba to divest now! There is no pride for some without liberation of all. Be queer - stand for something! The University of Manitoba endowment fund holds equities in eight companies which have been involved in the State of Isra3l’s actions in Gaza: Honeywell International Inc, General Dynamics Corp, Northrop Grumman, Lockheed Martin Corp, RTX Corp, Check Point Software Technologies Ltd, Oshkosh Corp, and Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC.Lockheed Martin and General Dynamics are also key suppliers of weapons to the United Arab Emirates which is fueling the ongoing genoc¡de in Darfur and the war in Sudan more broadly, by supplying weapons to the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces. The war has displaced over 14 million people and triggered the world’s largest humanitarian crisis. The pursuit of the minerals and materials to create these weapons has created violence and inequitable conditions for people in places such as in Congo as well.Students, Faculty, Alumni and community members can sign the petition calling on the University of Manitoba to divest from these companies at this link: http://bit.ly/4vPFwMC You cannot be inclusive when you are funding violence all around the world: Palest!ne, Sudan , Congo. An institution cannot be progressive when they actively silence queer students speaking up against aparth3id and harm.Pride is not about rainbow capitalism, who can wear a rainbow shirt or show up to a safe, permissible civic event. It is about standing with the oppressed whether that be here in Turtle Island or across the ocean. Pride started as a protest, with black, latino and racialized queer and trans people fighting against police brutality and the criminalization of our identities. We honour those who fought for our rights by fighting for those who have yet to achieve theirs.📸Photo credit for 1st and last images is Salvador Maniquiz @pongtravels - blurring is our edits tho! #pride #pinkwashing #queer #pridewinnipeg #freepalestine by @victoriadoingstuff

So blessed to have spent some time in Victoria BC this past week for the knowledge gathering of the research project I have been working on for the past 2 years - “The Care We Deserve: Youth Mapping Their Sexual Health Needs” 🤍😁 This is an incredibly important project surveying how diverse youth across Turtle Island access (or cannot access) sexual and reproductive healthcare. Similar to my own negative experiences in accessing healthcare , there is a desperate need for SRH care that meets youth where they are at and does not pass on stigma, shame, or judgment. Sexual health is a regular part of health and we all deserve care that reflects that! This gathering was all about taking the data we’ve collected from peer to peer interviews and putting it together for deliverables to distribute to healthcare providers, policymakers, schools, educators and other youth! We are using a crazy cool new medium of data presentation, visual mapping, which is a super different process from the other research projects I have worked on in my academic and professional experiences! We are working with @thefuselight to make this a reality and it is such an interesting process . I am so excited to share the materials once they are completed !! I’m so grateful to be in spaces with other passionate youth who are using our experiences to support and empower ourselves and others like us. I always meet the coolest people doing this work and I’m genuinely so lucky to be able to work alongside such powerhouses! The future of sexual and reproductive health care is looking bright - because youth felt empowered to speak up about what we need. #srhr #sexualhealthmatters #youth #thecarewedeserve by @victoriadoingstuff

I’ll make a real grad post soon! But the least I could do while I have the privilege of walking the stage at my convocation, while 95% of universities in Gaza have been destroyed by the state of Israel and more than 80,000 students have been deprived of access to higher education, is call attention to how my tuition $ has been used to perpetuate violence around the globe. #grad #convocation #universityofmanitoba #freepalestine #classof2026 by @victoriadoingstuff
