With the Project Edit, tell me a little about the room, its palette and the atmosphere you’re hoping to create. I’ll personally select a considered group of wallpapers and colorways for you to explore.

It’s a more personal way to sample—and one of my favorite parts of the work: looking closely at a project and finding the papers that might make the room click.

The Project Edit is available for interior designers through the website. by @victorialarsontextiles

Friday fun.
If you ask me what's on my mind...this is what you'd see. Pattern and color, shade and hue, light and reflection. I even dream in color which I thought everyone did until my hubs told he doesn't.

Designs, like people, need to travel as far as possible to get lost and find themselves.

Cowrie is about that journey. Inspired by ferns and their unfurling shapes while in New Zealand, Cowrie started off as a block print that I liked but didn't love so it sat in my drawing files for a while. Years later, I fell in love with Aboriginal dot painting while visiting Australia and applied that idea to my original design. The combination was just what I was looking for and Cowrie came to life.

All designs are hand painted by me before being digitally printed onto the highest quality papers

A good edit is not a stack of similar options. It is a point of view.

When I build a Project Edit for a designer, I consider the existing materials, desired atmosphere, and the scale at which the pattern will be experienced.

From there, I narrow the possibilities to three distinct directions that can move the conversation forward. The goal is not to show everything. It is to make the next decision clearer.

The ceiling can carry the most unexpected moment in a room.

Taking pattern overhead changes the way the architecture is read. It can draw the eye through a passage or create one decisive gesture without adding another object.

The key is scale. The repeat must remain legible from below while allowing the ceiling to feel expansive rather than busy.

Save this for the project where the fifth wall should not be an afterthought.

Before a pattern becomes orderly, it begins with water, pigment, and a decision made by hand.

I am watching the edges here: where one wash blooms into another, where a shape needs to disappear, and where open paper is as important as the painted mark. Those irregularities remain part of the finished repeat. At room scale, they allow the wallcovering to feel present without becoming rigid.

Swipe from the first painted study, through the repeat, to the room it was made to inhabit.

And then the drawing entered the room. Briony was designed to feel quietly established.
