Trapper Peak - the highest point in the Bitterroot Mountains

10,157 ft high
3,700 elevation gain from TH
Thin air, Challenging specially if your packs weigh 35 lbs. 😅

This hike did not make it to my top 5 but I am glad we did it.
Willing to do it again.

Trail running is awesome except when you can’t tell the difference between a rattlesnake or a bull snake and don’t want to take your chances.

I don’t see a rattle on the tip of the tail, but … fawk I hate snakes! HALP. 🤣

I ended up back tracking to give the snake enough time to clear before getting on with my business.

I’ll climb it.
He’s be fascinated by the obscure plant he finds in the cracks of this old copper mine we came across yesterday.

Mount Sentinel isn’t the World’s Richest Hill but about the same time copper mining elevated Butte to world-class prestige, there was some action going on in Missoula too.
This 1890 mine shaft is a bit of a local secret that hikers usually stumble on.
