Shout out to @luke.fortney for the mention on Where to Eat for the @nytimes. Vietnamese Mexican flavors and cultures on full force with our tamales. Bánh Nậm and Tamales are cousins for sure. In Mexico, corn is the culture. Corn MASA stuffed into corn husk. In Vietnam rice the culture. “Dumplings” made from rice flour filled into a banana leaf. my favorite fun fact is that in Oaxaca they use banana leaf for their tamales and it looks just like bánh nậm!We haven’t even talked about Xiu Mai and Albondigas! I’ll save that for another time. by @vietmexchef

Thank you to everyone that came out to support @anxoi.nyc at our pop-up last week. Thao and Duy are amazing cooks and making super delicious Vietnamese food all over New York. Pop-ups are not easy and they’re crushing! I first met them when they dropped 🥮 Mooncakes for tết 🧧 @larryscaphe . We also use many of their products from @vanvan.etcetera here in our kitchen. Preserving the culture of food, farming, and family traditions in Vietnam and sharing it with the us here in the US. by @vietmexchef

Five years ago, I took over Falansai and could never expect to have had so many amazing people, parties, and memories at 112 Harrison Place. It’s been a wild ride and I’m grateful that we can continue on. This Saturday, October 25 will be the final day in Bushwick. Some things on the menu here will not be coming along for the new journey, the new kitchen does not have a wok range and grill. The new location will not have Dad’s fried rice or Dad’s egg rolls. Things change, gotta keep it moving, there are lots of dishes to be eaten. It’s very special to have the space to be able to bring my food and music world together. Falansai has been a place to eat foods and flavors that bring you back to a special time or place. Hopefully there has been music playing in the speakers that have done the same. The dinner table is a place for family, friends, fun, and memories. I have been fortunate enough to have had all those experiences the last five years here. and wow, have some legends come in this door. I can’t thank my current and previous staff enough for riding this wave with me and making it a special place and time for so many New Yorkers. thank you to everyone who has supported us we hope to see you at 120 Norman Avenue in Greenpoint, Brooklyn in November.
