Coastal Partners come together in Giving Land Back to the Siletz Tribe
“View the Future (VtF) is enthusiastically honored to be a primary financial and consulting contributor and partner with McKenzie River Trust (MRT) regarding the rematriation of 6.82 acres in south Lincoln County to the Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians (CTSI). VtF contributed $55,000 to the $120,000 purchase price. A special and magnificent piece, it has been on VtF’s radar for 17 years to return to the CTSI.
This local property is very important in terms of ecology, climate resilience, and coastal conservation values for the Tribes. Our collaboration with MRT, CTSI, along with Nature Conservancy, Friends of Otter Rock, Cape Perpetua Collaborative and 8 additional donors have made this donation possible. The Tribal Counsel and its staff highly value these collaborative partnerships to rematriate this and other properties.
VtF is so very pleased this part of the homeland of the Alsean-speaking People is finally and safely back home!”

CALLING ALL TEACHERS PARENTS AND STUDENTS! “Our Children’s Trust” Leader Mat dos Santos is coming to Speak in Yachats on Youth-Led Climate Action October 4th - youth participation encouraged!
Mat dos Santos — Our Children’s Trust
October 4, 2026, Yachats Commons, 3pm
Yachats, Ore. — View the Future is pleased to welcome Mat dos Santos, Co-Executive Director and General Counsel of Our Children’s Trust, to Yachats for a special community presentation exploring youth-led climate action, environmental law, and the growing role young people are playing in shaping the future of climate policy.
View the Future especially encourages local youth, students, teachers, families, and young environmental advocates to attend. Climate change will profoundly shape the world today's young people inherit, and their voices, ideas, and participation are essential to the conversation. This is an opportunity for young people on the Oregon Coast to hear firsthand about a national movement being led by their peers and to learn how advocacy can create meaningful change.
Our Children’s Trust is a nonprofit public-interest law firm dedicated to securing the legal rights of young people to a safe and healthy climate. The organization has gained national and international attention for representing youth in constitutional climate cases, including the landmark Juliana v. United States lawsuit. During this presentation, dos Santos will discuss Juliana, current youth climate cases and other climate-action efforts being pursued by Our Children’s Trust. They will also share how young people are using the courts, science, and civic engagement to advocate for their future and hold governments accountable for decisions affecting the climate. by @view_the_future

🌲 Speak up for our roadless forests! The Forest Service is proposing to eliminate the Roadless Rule, potentially opening nearly 45 million acres of wild public forests to increased roads, logging, and development, including about 2 million acres in Oregon.
So, if protecting Oregon’s forests, clean water, wildlife habitat, and wild places matters to you, please take a few minutes to submit a comment —and share this with others.
1. Before SEPTEMBER 21st at 5 p.m. PST, sign Cascadia Wildlands' petition urging the Forest Service to maintain Roadless Rule Forest protections now. The petition, including your name, will be added to the public comment record. The petition does not allow edits, however, so head to step number two. We’ll submit the petition to the agency, and your name will be included in the public record. Link to Petition: -> https://cascwild.org/actions/defend-roadless-forests/
2. Next by OCTOBER 6th, submit your comments directly to USDA Forest Service. You can use the language in this sample comment or our petition to get started, but be sure to add your own comments on why roadless area protections matter to you.
