Fiancés. 
We met on the shores of the East River.
Soon after, I had to fly back to Italy for work. For our third date, Taj flew all the way to Rome to meet me. 
A few days later, we found ourselves on the rocks of the Amalfi Coast for a long weekend. We barely knew each other then. We were still strangers. Little did we know.  
Years later, back at that same hotel, on one of its suspended terraces facing Positano, I asked him to marry me. He said yes.

As 2026 gets off to a strong start, we wanted to take a moment to reintroduce ourselves and share a bit of our story.

Last year was our strongest so far. We worked closely with even more interior designers around the world, developing unique custom made furniture and sourcing rare vintage designs. Each project pushed our team further, challenged our artisans and expanded what our clients could achieve in their beautiful projects.

This year, we will continue sharing the stories of the interior designers, architects, and friends we meet along the way.

And @sotoklerstudio was born.

It all started few years ago with a late summer idea on the island of Pantelleria, off the shores of Sicily.

At the time, we were both in New York. I was working for a cybersecurity startup, while my friend Legare was at the Sotheby’s auction house, specializing in 20th century design. I felt the need to step away from tech and reconnect with my true passion.

We decided to make it happen and launched a furniture procurement company based in Rome.

At first, we focused on sourcing vintage pieces for interior designers. Over time, our network and connections evolved. We began partnering with ateliers across Italy, working closely with artisans in Murano, Florence and Rome to produce unique, handcrafted, custom made furniture and fixtures.

What a journey it has been, from an idea born out of friendship and a shared desire to make the beauty and craftsmanship of Italy more accessible to design professionals beyond Europe, to today, serving more than 30 interior design firms in the US and around the world 🌎 taken in New York City, USA by @viktor.sobra
