We were proud to unveil a historical marker dedicating the history of 1213 Blanding Street, a building that was Columbia’s first paid firehouse and Villa Tronco, the oldest continuously operating restaurant in South Carolina.

What made this moment truly special was the people. Community leaders, neighbors, and elected officials came together to honor not just a building, but the values behind it. This place stands because generations believed in service, hard work, and looking out for one another.

We’re deeply grateful to those who built it, those who’ve kept it going, and everyone ready to help carry it forward to new heights. Moments like this remind me that when we lead with gratitude and focus on each other, our shared history becomes a foundation for an even stronger future.

🇮🇹✨ GOOD FOOD, GREAT MUSIC & A LITTLE ITALIAN CHARM IN COLUMBIA, SC! ❤️🇮🇹

What a beautiful day enjoying the Italian Festival at Finlay Park! 🎶 From the lively entertainment and gorgeous park scenery to the incredible food, this event had a little bit of everything!

We enjoyed delicious bites from Black Dog and Villa Tronco, soaked up the atmosphere, and made some great memories! 🍕🍝

Sometimes you stumble upon a place that takes you right back home. ❤️🇮🇹

We happened upon @villatronco in downtown Columbia, SC—the oldest restaurant in the state—and what we didn’t expect was how much it would feel like stepping into my own Italian family.

From the moment we walked through the door, the smell of homemade “gravy” filled the air. (And YES, I’m the kind of Italian who grew up calling it GRAVY, not sauce! It’s legit, there’s history behind it, just look it up! 😉😂) The meatballs cooking, the homemade everything, the warmth of the atmosphere…it took me right back to the Sunday family dinners I grew up with.

And then there was Carmella. ❤️ The Sicilian owner who gave me a hug before I even knew her name. When I learned it was Carmella—my own mother’s name—I couldn’t help but smile. What are the chances?!

We also had the pleasure of meeting @tripprochesc , a semi-pro table tennis player and fifth-generation member of the family, whose pride in his family’s legacy was so evident.

What started as an unexpected dinner turned into a beautiful walk down memory lane.

For a little while, I felt like I was home again. Home with my Italian roots, the smells, the stories, the hospitality, and the beautiful way food brings family together.

It’s amazing how a place you’ve never been can make you feel like you’ve returned to somewhere you’ve always belonged. ❤️
