Writing Wednesday is officially part of the rotation 🥹
Idk it’s so awkward to try and start pitching myself on here but my current story is so precious to me, and I want to scream it from the rooftops and i want the people who need this kind of story the most to read it and feel seen and i want to find community and heal together so i’m sharing this and hoping what i share in the future resonates.

Stay the Course: Three lives intertwine in the telling of a multigenerational cycle of violence. Ellie seeks escape with an imaginary friend, Kristin hatches an escape plan, and Laura Elizabeth can’t escape the feeling of someone looking over her shoulder.

This song being the pick is crazy work actually
Anyway hi long time no post so here’s something i’ve been working on for weeks 🥹
This is kinda inspired by @transrightsreadathon but also mostly inspired by mmm the world i guess

(also i tried doing one book per author but i got too excited about the covers for one in particular so don’t mind me)

(also there’s a lot more i wanted to put in here about the wild shit that woman pulls and how she’s working closely with the writers of that new show but this was already running so long)

protect the dolls
protect trans kids

Hey life has been wildly fast moving for me lately, between school, doctors and specialists, psychiatrists, our pets trading out who is sick which week. Here’s to finding time (any time at all) throughout my favorite month and season to slow down and appreciate it all 🍂🍁🪾🌬️ by @vimarobabooks

Thank you @bindery_books and @thebuffwriter for an advanced copy of What Feeds Below!

I love what Tatiana is bringing into horror- young adult stories that feel fun and don’t always lean into a neat resolution by the end of it. This book is no different, and let me just talk about the universe she builds: reading this was like watching a movie, where I could see all the various settings. I kept coming back to her page for any visual evidence of everything she named.

(@thebuffwriter if you ever decide to write and publish a companion piece in the form of the Compendium of Void Beasts, you’ll have a very happy reader right here)

Happy release day!! by @vimarobabooks

Finding joy wherever I can, like joining @stephloveshorror Hotties Read Horror group read for @deenahelm debut. This has been one of my most anticipated horrors this year, and I am dedicated to a slow and intentional read.

Personal;

This time of year is strange for me. I deeply love autumnal shifts but this month also marks a deep loss for me. Additionally, emotionally processing this diagnosis has felt intensely isolating. I feel adrift in terms of a community. I’m avoiding people I considered close friends in an effort to not utilize them as unpaid therapists, as to not become a burden or build resentments. My school workload has progressed this semester to a point that it’s hard to find time to play games or read books, and writing has taken a permanent hiatus. I meet with a psychiatrist this week to discuss a possible PMDD diagnosis, and i’m still on the hunt for therapy that can work both with my schedule and my insurance. It’s a time of change, and I’m telling myself that on the other side is a bright future. But it feels incredibly lonely in the meantime. by @vimarobabooks

October is here but I am swallowed up by existence. Juggling the forward momentum of barreling towards meaning and fulfillment juxtaposed with the stasis of chronic pain. Life is beautiful but it is also horrific. It’s dreadful but maybe it’s all okay. Either way, I’m exhausted and yet so thrilled to inhale the cooling evening air as seasons shift. 🖤 by @vimarobabooks

HEY STOP WHAT YOURE DOING AND READ THIS BOOK 💍💒🚬🦌💐☄️

“… it’s not too far to cross that distance.”

okay first off we all know im a @rachelharrisonsghost fangirl and she can literally do no wrong as far as im concerned. but every book i go in thinking “ill like this but it wont be the best one bc i already have a favorite” and boom every single time i say goodbye to SST or Play Nice and have a new favorite.

“what if im more afraid to leave than i am to stay?”

Willa is everything to me. Her deep love for her friends, her deep love for her cat, her deep love for everything that hurts her and yet it is such a battle for her to find that deep love for herself. Her journey is a triumph in existence through hardships.

“i dont know what’s next but i do know that i want it. i want it so badly and that’s what’s so terrifying.”

i feel like this book came at the perfect time for me. it was so fun, even with the death and destruction, i truly didn’t want this book to end. I actually coulda have sat and read 4 years of this.

can’t wait to meet yall back here when i fangirl over the next one 💕 by @vimarobabooks

wow i actually have real updates this week

i already posted but my biggest update is the official diagnosis of DIE (yeah cool acronym 🥀) and the discovery that i have organs literally glued to each other. i have a handful of appointments coming up to meet with the endometriosis specialist i saw in july, and my primary care doctor, but im not sure what my immediate future looks like yet. im just excited to picture any future at all without the constant pain and maybe even better mental health

hey if you’re asking yourself “should i make lasagna soup?” the answer is a big yes.

also it’s hard to tell but those cinnamon rolls have oil jackolantern faces i promise

yeah it’s tough being a student
it’s a lot harder to go to university as an adult with chronic pain than i expected
but yr girl is sticking it out

okay finalllly a reading update! @rachelharrisonsghost has me by the throat in this newest book of hers! it’s so fun i’m having a hard time putting it down. also last week i read On Sundays She Picked Flowers (beautiful btw) and this book by @roslynreedwrites is such a good companion read.
am i too optimistic with this physical stack? one of them is a poetry collection so im telling myself this is a perfectly reasonable feat that i can get to in between school and ARCs 🥲

okay i’ve been a little too busy with school and in pain with endo and flare ups that i haven’t worked on my main WIP in weeks. but this last week, this lil nugget started screaming at me from inside my brain so im taking a detour to see what comes of it 😌

and of course the baby updates. lionel’s ear infection is finalllllly starting to clear up after a second round of antibiotics. penny decided to be twins and had another bad pain flare, so we’ve been bed babies together but she’s starting to feel better! saja is slowly starting to eat out of my hand but he gets scared pretty easily. and luna is still perfect in every way.

okay see yall next week love you byeeee by @vimarobabooks

Thank you @randomhousebooks and @delreybooks for digital ARCS of Crone and The Need (respectively).

⚰️☕️🪾HAPPY FALL🎃🍁🍂
The happiest time of year might also be the busiest when it comes to horror books- I have so many ARCs to review and library loans to read. Read for mini reviews!

The Crone: atp Keith Rosson is one of my favorite authors. His writing is strangely evocative of his own self, wherein I kept feeling nostalgic for Fever House or Coffin Moon. He brings so much heart to his stories, I was sobbing the last few chapters of this book. Please check triggers but if you’re up for it, this story is so worth the heartache.

The Need: I was offered an early edition of this and hadn’t heard of the author but have enjoyed other ARCs from Del Rey. Plus the cover gave me True Blood vibes, so I spent a very long time thinking this was a vampire book. Alas, it’s not, but its core themes of consumption and self indulgence (and self destruction) are very on point. I ended up reading this in one long session and will keep an eye out for any future works!

I managed to check Our Cut of Salt out at exactly 12:13 am this morning from my library, and cannot wait to dive into it. This has been one of my most anticipated horrors for *months*

Enjoy starting off the new season, I hope you check these books out!! by @vimarobabooks
