Fashionopolis is always one of the most spectacular fashion events of the year, and this was my favorite one yet. Truly loved every look. Runway Production, Choreography, and Styling by the one and only Grant Whittaker @grantwcreative 🤩

Everyone brought their A Game to the Black + White theme and looked elegant + classy while mingling around the gorgeous @fsminneapolis. Huge thanks to @twincitieslive for the tix. So happy we made it to downtown Mpls Saturday night before Avant Garden to do a little photo shoot with the ginormous colorful balls that were adorning Nicollet Mall during @modebyflickr all weekend. These shots by @victorrmedinac are just beyond incredible..he is a spectacular photographer. 🤩 Love my local fashion 🧚🏻🧚🏻‍♀️🧚🏻‍♂️ - we are all rocking looks by talented local designers who made us into works of art for a fancy rave at @walkerartcenter that was a total blast. It’s our version of the @metgalaofficial_ but anyone can attend in the mini-apple, even if you’re not rich and/or famous. It’s very Minnesotan, and I love it. 🌃💜✨

A ridiculously fun evening with our friend Ryan. He’s just the best in the biz, extremely generous and I’m obsessed with every track from his upcoming kaskade album “Origin,” dropping next month. Huge thanks to @mspmag for this thoughtful feature on Minnesota made film @goodsportmovie. Their timing is impeccable, because the movie started streaming on @appletv, @primevideo, @fandango and @googleplay today…so now you can get cozy and watch it at home. I am thrilled to be part of the first ever @mspmag Fashionopolis Host Committee “Club L’Etoile” to help promote L’Etoile du Nord: A Fashionopolis Experience on Friday, October 23rd at @artsmia. A few tickets are still available for the Grand Salon fashion show produced by @grantwcreative, or you can join us after the runway show for The Twilight Soiree that begins at 8:30 pm and ends at 11 pm. I haven’t checked out the new Paris Couture exhibit at mia yet because we will get to experience it at Fashionopolis..the exhibit is included in the ticket price and I can’t wait to see it. 🤩

I’ve attended Fashionopolis the last few years and am always blown away..there are fabulous surprises in store whether its a performance from @bebezahara or models like @mackenziespaige @jered.sternaman taking the runway to a whole new level with iconic dance moves. And @grantwcreative produces some of the best runway shows I’ve experienced. 🔥🔥🔥

Found my new happy place yesterday at the gorgeous @allswell.waterspa that is one of the most beautiful and thoughtfully designed wellness spaces I’ve been to. It’s the Twin Cities’ first “social spa” where you can talk to friends or strangers while enjoying the hot tub, cold plunge tub, steam room, outdoor wood fired sauna, indoor sauna with a window to the waterfall, infrared sauna, salt room or plant filled relaxation/coloring room. The showers and locker area are stocked with anything you might need. A day pass is $55 and you have 2 hours to enjoy all of the amenities, or you can get a monthly unlimited pass. It opened officially yesterday afternoon, and I highly recommend getting over there stat. It’s close to @animalesbarbequeco @ladonacerveza @misfitcoffee in the up and coming Harrison neighborhood, which is also close to bike trails and will soon have a light rail stop.

I’ve been part of the community sauna @thermaculture scene since 2018 when my friend @johnrpederson started the sauna program at @hewinghotel. I’ve been to most of the sauna spots in Minne many times and love @watershedmpls for a more quiet spa experience and @portalthermaculture for a more extreme cold plunge. Looking forward to having @bathhouse across from our loft in NoLo next year, and really love that we have enough sauna enthusiasts to keep all of these places thriving.

The first Apple Orchard I visited in Minnesota was @pinetreeappleorchard 26 years ago, and it’s still my favorite. Jeff grew up in White Bear Lake and it’s the Apple Orchard he went to growing up, so he brought me there on my first fall visit in 2000 when we were living in SF, and I’ve been obsessed ever since. The baked apple treats are the best I’ve found, and I’ve visited a lot of orchards. You can pick up a frozen apple pie to serve at Thanksgiving but get some apple cider snickerdoodles, apple cinnamon donuts and apple turnovers to enjoy now. I love that there’s also a real pumpkin patch that goes on for miles that makes me feel like I’m in Cinderella. Growing up in OC we got our pumpkins in a mall parking lot or at Trader Joe’s, which I always found strange, and a little sad.

It’s a gorgeous place to just go walk around, and they also offer tractor rides, a corn maze and other autumnal activities for the kiddos. It’s not far from Stillwater and all the picturesque little towns along the river, so you can make a day of it. The fall colors should be at peak in the next week or two..highly recommend getting out there for a visit. 🍎🍎🍎 taken in Pine Tree Apple Orchard by @vimlabpr

So our President is obviously batshit insane, but at least we are all alive on planet earth at the same time as musical genius @rufuswainwright. 😍🙌🏻💫

Every time I am fortunate enough to see him perform live, I laugh, cry, sing along, and am extremely grateful for being able to witness his genius. It’s like seeing Mozart live..his talent is just truly mind blowing.

Rufus performed 4 solo shows at @dakotampls this week and Jeff and I got to experience all of this beauty at the first one Monday night. From the second he sat down at the piano, his immense raw talent was on display. I’ve seen him perform everywhere from the @hollywoodbowl to @thefillmore in SF to Orchestra Hall, and this intimate show for 350 was my favorite one yet. He’s never sounded better.

Loved his opener @teddythompsonmusic whose voice was perfection with Rufus’..he will be back in MN for a solo show at @thecedar November 8th.

It’s Libra Szn and I celebrate my Oct birthday all month long in an overindulgent celebration with family, friends, food, autumn leaves, THC drinks, bonfires, spa visits, garden parties, saunas, snuggles with our floofy love bug Ruth, live music, apple orchards, pumpkin patches, cozy visits to the North Shore and all things fall. I love to have a packed social calendar and am looking forward to seeing @rufuswainwright at @dakotampls this Monday and @trickyofficial at @finelinempls Tuesday to kick off my bday month. Save the date Oct 23rd for @mspmag’s L’Etoile du Nord: A Fashionopolis Experience at @artsmia and Oct 24th for @mandown_fashion.

Growing up in Orange County, CA, I still remember sitting outside at night by myself in Oct when the warm Santa Ana winds were blowing and loving it because it was different than our usual weather, which was nice, but kinda boring to me. Turns out my soul just needed to live somewhere with seasons. Imo, people who don’t experience true seasons are missing out. Now I don’t want to live without them. 🤷🏼‍♀️🍁🍂🍃 by @vimlabpr

@rufuswainwright is coming to @dakotampls October 5, 6 + 7 and if you love live music, you should be there.

I’ve been fortunate enough to see Rufus several times over the years and sometimes get to go backstage to say hello because we are related through a complicated family tree..basically my cousin Anna is his aunt. I think. I’ve gotten to have dinner with his hilarious and talented father @loudo3 a few times and once grilled him about performing with Jewel in the ‘90s when we were having dinner at a gorgeous farmhouse in Connecticut when I was really into the ladies of Lilith Fair 😂 Rufus’ 1/2 sister @lucywainwrightroche is also a very talented folk singer who sometimes tours with @indigogirlsmusic - randomly got to see her perform with them last summer in Paso Robles when I was visiting my parents in Cambria. Her mom @suzzyroche is also insanely talented and cool..it’s an extremely talented musical family and I love seeing them whenever possible.

It’s been a minute since Rufus was here..the last show I attended was in 2021 at Northrop and before that we had insane seats to see him at the State Theater in 2018 and at Orchestra Hall w @minnorch in 2017. His beautiful songs always move me to tears, his sassy repartee cracks me up and that voice?? It’s like buttah. And his fashion is always on point. Can’t wait. 🤩💖🎤
