go see with @jadehsuu and the youngers shot at the barbican in london — such a classic location. i remember being unsure whether to ask all of them on bikes if they’d be down to be part of the photos. i hesitated at first but figured this was probably my only chance for a moment like this. it all happened right at the end of our shoot — and these ended up being my favorite images from the day. to me these images feel very london and represent my experience there accurately.

boys at the water

these kids were great — so full of life and energy, which drew me to want to capture them. i sat and watched them for a while, allowing myself to be present before asking if i could photograph them. i feel like interactions like this rely on a warm positive energy exchange. as much as it’s a vulnerable moment for them, it feels the same for me. i’m always striving to keep integrity at the forefront — i love portraits!

the stills and motion were taken last spring on my mamiya 6 & canon es8400, but they’ve just been living on my hard drive until now. lately, i’ve had a strong desire to dive deeper into documentary photography and filmmaking. i’ve noticed a lot of signs pointing me in that direction, and i’ve always enjoyed that aspect of storytelling. i think documentary work would serve my desire to connect with the people in front of my lens in a real way bruduski.

It has been quite a journey for me to get back to this point. about a year ago, I returned from a hiatus and got back to taking portraits, but this marks nearly two years since I last worked on a fashion editorial. being on the cover of grazia for a ‘comeback’ themed issue seems fitting! It truly feels like alignment and an opportunity to reenter this space in a sustainable way. i’m thrilled to have achieved this with such an amazing team and with people who have uplifted me to this point, including both familiar and new faces.

i’ve spent a lot of time questioning the direction of my creative career. there were moments when I felt stuck, spinning my wheels to the point where I wanted to start fresh with a new mindset. at some point, I lost touch with trusting my intuition, which is understandable when you’re trying to build something from the ground up, searching for answers on how to reach that next stage — or at least get to a point where everything in life feels like it’s working out.

now, i’m just happy to be back fully, creating work that I love alongside people who excel at what they do and are a joy to be around. you all inspire me, and I’m looking forward to the next one 💙 taken in Malibu, California by @vincentperryjr
