30 seconds of highlights from Canines in Six Musical Portraits: A Dog Is a Machine for Loving, live at the AKC Museum of the Dog. This dog-friendly concert of canine-inspired music brightened our galleries this weekend to welcome in our newest exhibition, Scotland, The Brave Dogs.

A Dog is a Machine for Loving is Alec Hall’s new composition culminating from a decade of listening to the dogs in his life. This six-movement piece featured pianist Ning Yu, narrator Vinson Cunningham and a number of unforgettable canine characters.

Thank you to the New York State Council on the Arts, the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs and Yamaha for their support in making this event possible.

🚨MANHATTAN BOOK EVENT ALERT!🚨

At 6pm on Monday March 9, I will be in conversation with the very great critic and novelist @vinsoncunningham at @rizzolibookstore on Broadway. It's going to be fun, but I also can't promise that there won't be some angusihed ruminations on the harsh realities of the writing process. Following the conversation, I will be signing copies of The World of Black Film. Rizzoli is such a lovely space, and I'm extremely excited for this event. It's free to attend, but RSVP-ing is encouraged -- you can do so by following the link in the Linktree in my bio! by @vinsoncunningham
