RocknShop @rocknshop.cville in Cartersville pulls in both loyal locals and travelers passing through for the town's museums and LakePoint Sports tournaments. Fleetwood Mac's Rumours, Eagles' Hotel California, and Dark Side of the Moon sell out almost monthly, clean copies or not. One collection that came through had two sealed copies of Page and Plant's No Quarter — the owner is still waiting on a Beatles Butcher Cover to show up.

Rock N' Roll Land @rocknrollland in Green Bay bought 8,000 singles from a club eight or nine years ago, which quietly built its reputation for obscure electronic 45s well beyond Wisconsin. The aisles are deliberately over-spaced to make the shop fully wheelchair accessible — a choice made from day one, not an afterthought.

Toad Hall Books and Records @rockfordtoadhall has been part of Rockford since 1973, now spread across more than 10,000 square feet and three floors of a 100-year-old building that was once a pharmacy, a cafe, and apartments. When the current owners bought it in 2005, the roof leaked and trash was everywhere — twenty years later, they've organized it a section at a time. New stock still comes in every single day.

Matt Anthony's @record_shop is a small, deliberately selective Louisville shop built around jazz and a dedicated local-artist section. Matt's take on record pricing psychology: if someone wants to buy a record, they "saw it online for a buck." If they want to sell that same record, they "saw it online for a thousand dollars."

Purchase Street Records @purchasestreetrecords is rooted in New Bedford's punk, hardcore, and metal scene, run by a musician whose uncle was the original drummer for Billy Squier's band. The owner once climbed to a third-floor apartment on a hot August night to haul out a full 90s rock and grunge collection — worth every step.

Psychic Hotline @psychichotline's Mailroom Outlet turns the label's actual shipping room into a Saturday storefront in Durham — the label was built by the people behind Sylvan Esso. Artists sometimes show up to sign records, DJ, or even make crepes; nobody quite knows what a given Saturday will bring.

Platterpus Records @platterpusrecords took its name from a record store in New Zealand — at one point there were four shops in the US called Platterpus, and the owner believes his is the only one left. Easthampton sits inside one of the densest record-store clusters anywhere: eight good shops within a 20-minute drive, three more if you push another 15 minutes toward Greenfield.

Rock and Roll Graveyard @rockandrollgraveyard runs out of a basement under a day spa in downtown Frederick, walls still painted the purple they came with when the owner took over the space fifteen years ago. Much of the original stock came from his own collection — about 6,000 LPs gathered since childhood, gradually set free into the shop one sale at a time.

Ripe Records Detroit @riperecordsdetroit carries over 20,000 records, split about evenly new and used, just outside the city in Grosse Pointe Park. Every Friday brings 50 to 100 fresh used arrivals to the bins. Andrew's read on Detroit sellers: homes here are over a hundred years old, so there's almost always something collectible tucked away.

Right On!!! Napa @rightonnapa opened after a twenty-plus-year gap since the last record store existed in wine country — the owner felt it was time. Now it sits steps from two hotels, pulling in tasting-room tourists alongside locals. Elvis, surprisingly, is a slow mover here.

Repo Records @reporecords has ridden every format cycle since the mid-1980s — vinyl to cassettes to CDs and back again — largely on Dan's stubbornness and work ethic. The staff design their own Repo t-shirts in-house, rotating new designs every year since 2014; there are usually nine originals for sale at once. Writing the hand-written staff recommendation cards is a shop tradition everyone genuinely enjoys.

Pinay Collectibles @pinaycollectibles specializes in Japanese pressings, city pop, and jazz fusion — sharing a space with Pinay Grocery and sitting next to Pinay Kitchen, a Filipino restaurant. Customers of the grocery and restaurant often discover the record shop by accident, which is why Jason kept a small OPM (Original Filipino Music) section going just for them.
