@onesoundobject is excited to collaborate with artist @therealkimschoen at @forestlawnmuseum group exhibition, In Bloom. Kim Schoen’s Oracles is a looped video work that features roses encased in spinning orbs. As they spin, their center ‘eyes’ look out to the world that surrounds them and the future they portend. Artist Kim Schoen collected these roses encased in plastic globes—real flowers spray painted with neon colored paint, and hovering in water—from the artificial flower section of the flower district in downtown Los Angeles. They are ‘forever flowers.’ The video shows us the debris that has been accumulating in the orbs over the years Schoen has held on to them; biological life beginning to bloom again in the form of algae.

In collaboration with @onesoundobject Schoen extends the project into sound works which accompany the video. Artist-collaborators, Claire de Dobay Rifelj, @paulinelay @viola.wav @pbehnkaa @hersemarcus @brendan_getz will present ‘oracular pronouncements’ based off of three Delphic Maxims that having to do with time and aging.

Think as a mortal
Accept old age
On reaching the end, be without sorrow

The Forest Lawn Museum will play these sound works in scattered sites around the museum the following dates

November 9
December 9
January 9
February 14 (live performance)

invitations and locations can be found on QR codes near the plastic plaques facing the video work. On those days, visitors can receive these artists’ oracular pronouncements about our shared future. by @viola.wav

@fowlsounds #MagicCircle designed with @mercury_tracer is so cool!! We obviously had to see how it responds to viola. Swappable delay/distortion order is SUCH a nice touch.
