The devestation in Maui is incomprehensible to most, even those who have experienced wildfires. People need help to survive and process this tragedy. I am starting an IG fundraiser to keep this visible on my page and make donating easy for some who won't venture outside of IG, but funds won't go out immediately.

I have reached out to a personal friend and done some investigating to find ways to help from afar. I would love other suggestions to be posted in comments, and for everyone to investigate new charities or donate through those they trust.

@elenamariehart and I met when our daughters were in preschool together. She is a full time resident of Maui and is on the ground helping and accepting $ for supplies through #Venmo @elena-hart (see slide 2). Funds will reach her immediately.

Slide 3 is a #GoFundMe set up for her friends in #Lahaina who lost their home and won't be working for the forseeable future, but are going to stay and rebuild with their 2 kids. by @violet.a.rose

Grateful that I love what I do, and that leaping into the default world isn't as hard as it could be, but it is still quite the culture shock. Burning Man is far from a utopia, but still a magical place where what can be dreamed can be done. Where collective community makes big differences together- like living in a society without trash littering the ground, and where people think about where they put their cigarette butts. To not think about money, financial transactions or having internet most of the time. Where the majority of people (instead of the minority) truly want the best for their neighbor and share with a genuinely open heart, not for their own personal gain. It is a place of art, music, wellness, learning, growth, indulging, celebration, mourning, healing, gathering and expression of all kinds to people's hearts content; in the truest burner form- judgement free. Consent is most popular, and having fun is paramount. Age and social status is irrelevant. The work still gets done, and those who dont help likely find another camp. You can also open camp or camp alone, and burn however you want. Speak to no one or more people than you ever have in your life. Clearly, each of us is different, and I had many challenges as well as joys during my time this year, but if even some of the principles of Burning Man, which are ethical and broad, are aspired to, society would be much more tolerable and enjoyable place. Imagine if everyone picked up the trash they saw instead of many mocking those that do? What a world it could be. Although physically exhausted, spiritually refreshed. So glad Violet and I were able to experience a place like this together. Even more poignant that it is temporary- a heartfelt reminder that everything is. Thank you Burning Man and everyone who created it. See you next year in the dust❣️✨️❤️‍🔥 by @violet.a.rose

If you can dream it... you can do it❣️✨️❤️‍🔥
Yep, we did this Friday at Burning Man. Last minute idea for an activity here. Perfection. 👌 Would you do this? by @violet.a.rose

One of the highlights of the burn so far was riding on the Axolotl on White Wednesday with a 9 year old DJ on the decks❣️✨️ Violet sat in the saddle the whole ride. Kid takeover art tour success✨️🤘 Anything is possible 🙌 by @violet.a.rose

The "calm" before the real storm. This was taken Saturday afternoon after a warm night sleeping in the tent in Black Rock City Friday. Our first "dust storm". Got a few pics in before shit got real. It's been a wild ride since, but we are still enjoying ourselves. Serious situations out here, though. Winds were at least 60 mph in our camp Sat and maybe Sunday. Spent a couple of nights (very grateful) on an RV couch and the last two in the tent again. Happy to be home! Don't think anyone saw this in the forecast. 😬🧐😂 Fingers crossed we are in the clear because my boots look like they did in 2023 after last nights rain. Hope everyone has stayed safe out here. Burner resilience at an all time high❣️✨️🫶↗️ by @violet.a.rose

5 days later and still processing. I've dreamed about the eclipse every night since. So grateful for this moment. Words will never do justice the awe of being in line with such a celestial spectacle with my own being. I will forever be amazed. Thank you universe, and thank you to my Mom, Dad, and daughter for being there with me and to all our angels for sharing in this astrological alignment❣️

Full disclosure: my brain was overloaded when I took my solar glasses off, and I took about a 1-2/10 of any image I was capable of. I took a video, never shut it off until Bailey's beads showed again, and it was too late for a picture or any closeups of the eclipse. 🤷‍♀️ This is a still from my video. Not even close to the quality I could have got with a photo, but having the video will be more special. The image of the Suns corona in the cool darkness is seared into my memory. I have never been more surprised as I was the moment I took off my glasses❣️
