I get asked this quite a bit, so let’s get into it!

Recently, I made a pivot with my content into the art/interiors space that might seem random, but actually makes all the sense in the world if you know my story.

For years, a lot of my work revolved around dating comics, relationships, and VERY publicly oversharing my life via stories (iykyk).

Looking back, I think that era was also me working through a lot of things I needed to work through, in real time and very much in public lol.

And honestly, I don’t regret it. Okay, maybe a few tiny things. But I think I needed that chapter. Making that work helped me process a lot, understand myself better, and eventually get to a place where I didn’t need to make it anymore.

What I’m doing now actually feels much less like a pivot and much more like a return to the things I’ve always been passionate about: art, interiors, antiques, design, and making beautiful things, but from a much more grounded and mature place.

So if this new era seems like it came out of nowhere, I promise it didn’t. In a lot of ways, it feels like coming home.

And did I mention that being back in New York, buying a home, and quite literally planting roots feels like the perfect setting for this particular chapter of my life?

If you’ve somehow survived all my previous eras with me, I’m so glad you’re still here. And if you’re just discovering me now, welcome to the latest chapter 💘 by @violetclair

Follow @honey.lazarus for updates on my grandma’s art ✨

My grandma died when I was nine, so I never really got the chance to know her as an adult. That changed a few weeks ago when I discovered a bunch of her paintings sitting in a warehouse.
The more time I spend with her work, the more I feel like I’m getting to know her. I keep finding little things we have in common, things I never would have known otherwise.

My grandma left behind some blank canvases, which was only a little bit intimidating.

After spending so much time surrounded by her paintings, I can’t believe how much it’s made me want to paint. I’ve been an artist for most of my life, but as an adult, so much of that has been confined to drawing comics on my iPad. There have been little pockets where I experimented with painting, but I never really felt the pull toward it like I do now.

So I decided to use one of her canvases to paint a little tribute to her.

It feels strange and special to make something on a surface she once intended to make something on herself. I have no idea where this new obsession is going, but I think Honey would be pretty happy about it. by @violetclair

I love the ease of a nonstick pan, but I’ve had complicated feelings about cooking on one.

Misen’s Deeper Carbon Nonstick Frying Pan gives me the easy cooking and cleanup I want, and I can use my metal spatula with it, too. by @violetclair
