Sometimes, the best reason to visit is simply to enjoy what’s around you.

I looked out the window this morning and said "what a miserable day", but then I had a change in perspective 🌧️

The rain brings life. It helps things grow, gives us puddles to jump in, supports food production, makes everything so green, and provides such incredible fresh air afterwards.

So no, it's not a miserable day, it's a rainy day. And rainy days are a good thing, right? 🌧️☔🌦️🌱🍁🌲

We're surrounded by trees that put on a spectacular display at this time of year, with even more autumn colour to discover in the surrounding countryside. What a month we’re having so far at Blair Castle. Balmy mornings, plenty more sunshine than rain, and one particularly lovely American visitor who declared us “the best Scottish castle of my tour round your country”. Thank you, sir!

We’ve loved seeing your photographs of our gardens and grounds this month, all taken here at Blair. Scroll through and imagine yourself here with us, enjoying a little Scottish sunshine.

The next hopping-off point for the Uisge Spè exhibition is @glenlivetestate visitor centre in Tomintoul. The village (next to a beautiful tributary of the Spey!) has been having its own 250 year celebrations and I’m very excited to bring the exhibit to a stunning part of the Cairngorms that I should really visit a lot more!
We’re having a casual opening evening with a few drinks tomorrow evening (5:30-7:30), if you are in or near to the area and can pop in, and the exhibit is going to be open Monday - Friday, 9am-5pm until the 30th Oct.
The estate office address is Main Street (at the end of!) Tomintoul, AB37 9EX

🍂 What a beautiful autumn morning here on the Estate! ☀️
After a frosty start, we’re enjoying clear blue skies, sunshine and some spectacular views across the landscape. Autumn has definitely arrived, and the first hints of colour are beginning to appear across the hills and woodlands.
