🏗️ We’re excited to announce "Under Development: What Happens When Cities Change?", opening at Newcastle Contemporary Arts this October.

Bringing together more than fifty years of documentary photography from Tyneside and East London, the exhibition draws on the AmberSide Collection and Four Corners Archive to trace the human consequences of decisions about housing, planning and who gets to shape the places we live.

ROBERTO PICCIAU - DIVERGE & SEE
8TH - 18TH SEPTEMBER, 2026
FOYER, HIGH BRIDGE WORKS

Diverge & See is a solo exhibition by locally based autistic artist Roberto Picciau. The exhibition is the culmination point of a series of workshops held across Newcastle upon Tyne and Gateshead with neurodivergent adults.

The exhibition features three wall based pieces: an intricate drawing, a collage and digital moving image on a 50” flat screen monitor. The work uses ‘doodling’ as a catalyst for revealing the relationships between neurodivergent attention, processing, and the hierarchies of drawing.

This exhibition was funded by Arts Council England.

Officially putting Newcastle on the fashion map!!!

Last night, @somebodyelsesguy confirmed something we’ve already known for years, Newcastle has style and it always has.

Together with founder and designer Corey Dixon, we brought together some of the North East’s best creatives, familiar local faces and media friends for a night that truly celebrated fashion, sustainability and Northern talent properly, and what a night it was 🥹⚡️

A huge congrats to Corey, and everyone else who has worked so hard to bring this incredible show together, we couldn’t be more proud to be a part of this huge moment 🖤

Error is creation: Innovative art & technology festival, 404 International Festival of Art & Technology lands in Newcastle this summer.

World-renowned art and technology festival, 404 Festival, is set to take place in the UK for the first time this year. Taking place from 26 August to 1 September 2026 across various venues in the North East of England, the 404 International Festival of Art & Technology will bring internationally renowned artists and futuristic design to thousands of people in an accessible way.

Previously held in the likes of Mexico City and New York City, this is the first time the event will take place in the UK with Northumbria University having led the bid for the event alongside Northern Dance.

404 Festival aims to democratize culture, spreading artistic productions that unite art with technology, creating an environment where artists can be in contact with the community.
The line up of artists for this year’s event spans across global shores and a range of artistic mediums, including the likes of Matt Black of Coldcut, acclaimed new media artist Hsin-Chien Huang, artist D-FUSE and Romanian art collective kinema ikon.

Thousands of visitors are expected to explore the diverse line up of installations, interactive media, musical events and more across venues including Northern Dance, Sunderland Museum and Winter Gardens, Northumbria University and Newcastle Contemporary Art.

Day one of @novum_festival was an absolute dream.

I’m so proud of the installation we have created together (and the village it took to get us to this point)

If you didn’t manage to get a seat at today’s workshop, we’re doing it all over again tomorrow 11-4pm followed by the epic dominoes which our gorgeous venue is also part of.
