L’isola Zamami, seconda per estensione dell’arcipelago delle Kerama, riserva tanti luoghi da sogno: spiagge di sabbia bianca finissima lambite da acque cristalline, perfette per fare immersioni e praticare snorkeling, ma anche foreste lussureggianti che ricoprono le colline nell’entroterra, celando punti panoramici mozzafiato. Okinawa by night. 🌴✨ Naha heeft een totaal andere sfeer dan Tokyo of Osaka. Minder haast, meer ontspanning, maar zodra de zon ondergaat komen de neonlichten tot leven. Booked a same-day two-way ferry ticket from Naha to Zamami Island. On the ferry, in the middle of the journey, enchanted by the sea, uttered “fuck it”. Ended up booking a hotel in the island and another ferry ticket back to Naha for the next day. One of the best hasty decisions ever. Small sacrifice. Grander experience. . 𝗥𝗢𝗦𝗘𝗪𝗢𝗢𝗗 𝗠𝗜𝗬𝗔𝗞𝗢𝗝𝗜𝗠𝗔 Miyakojima, Okinawa, Japan   Situated off the southern coast of Okinawa Prefecture, Miyakojima is celebrated for its dazzling turquoise waters, pristine beaches, and spiritual heritage. Known locally as the “Island of Prayers”, it is part of the Ryukyu archipelago, whose distinct culture blends Japanese and island influences. The pace here is gentle, shaped by the tides and the rustle of sugarcane fields, yet the island is rich in tradition, craftsmanship, and culinary nuance.   Occupying an untouched peninsula with sweeping views over Oura Bay, Rosewood Miyakojima opened in March 2025 as the brand’s first Japanese property. Designed by Studio Piet Boon, the resort takes its cues from Ryukyu architecture, using local limestone, natural textures and clean lines to frame the landscape. Sustainability and harmony with nature underpin the design, from the low-profile villas to the use of native stone that anchors the property to its setting. The resort’s 55 beachfront and ocean-view villas, plus three expansive houses, are spread across five zones, each named in the Okinawan dialect to reflect its location – from cliffside perches to villas directly on the sand. Interiors draw on organic materials, connecting seamlessly to the outdoors, while the largest houses feature three-metre ceilings, open terraces with barbecue grills, and dedicated butler service.
