Jewel Cave has a 20-foot piece of bacon.

Okay, technically it's "cave bacon." 😂

This ribbon-like calcite formation gets its name because, well... it looks like bacon. And you can spot it along the Scenic Tour at Jewel Cave National Monument. A narrow fissure in rocky terrain is illuminated with a warm, orange glow from within, contrasting against the dark, textured rock surface. by @visitrapidcity

Honoring the past, celebrating the present and carrying traditions into the future.

Located outside Prairie Edge in Downtown Rapid City, the sculpture "Hunkayapi" depicts a Lakota naming ceremony, symbolizing the wisdom, cultural pride and traditions passed from one generation to the next.

Today, on Indigenous Peoples' Day, we honor the history, cultures and ongoing contributions of Indigenous peoples.

Sculpture by Dale Lamphere A bronze statue depicting two figures, one taller with a shawl draped over the shoulders, and a smaller figure looking up. They stand on a circular base in front of the Prairie Edge store, which has a green and white striped awning. The scene is located in an urban sidewalk setting. by @visitrapidcity

Fall looks pretty good on Spearfish Canyon. 🍂

Take the drive, get out of the car and make the short hike to Spearfish Falls.

Changing leaves + a waterfall? Yeah, we'd say it's worth the stop. by @visitrapidcity
