35 & so alive ✨

Gemini szn came in HOT (and a little rainy 🌧️), but nothing could dim the magic of celebrating #BriDay35 in CDMX 🇲🇽 💃 ♊

Mexico City absolutely delivered! The history, culture, mezcal, and tacos (soooo many tacos 🌮🌮🌮) It somehow felt like the sun was shining every day, even when it wasn’t. And getting to celebrate this milestone surrounded by women from every beautiful chapter of my life was the perfect birthday gift 💕

If CDMX is on your travel wishlist, here’s your sign to GO, and don’t you dare leave without:
🎈 Catching the sunrise from a hot air balloon over Teotihuacán
🥂 Sipping your way through a mezcal tasting & mixology class
🎉 Getting loud on a party boat through the Xochimilco canals
😋 Making churros with some of the best chefs in the country
🌇 Taking in the skyline from the 44th floor of Torre Latinoamericana
🤼 Screaming your lungs out at a lucha libre show at Arena México

“If you had six weeks to craft your dream trip around the world, where would you go? What would you do?”

That’s what I asked myself when my employer granted me this sabbatical for serving 10 long, yet life-changing years as a full-time editor and project manager. I wanted to use the time to reflect, to explore, to learn, to turn uppp 😜 Here’s just a glimpse into some of the highlights from my journey:

🏛️ Touring the temples in Chiang Mai & Chiang Rai
💃🏽 Dinner & a show at Phare des Mamelles @pharedesmamelles
🤍 Visiting the Door of No Return on Gorée Island
🏖 Beaching and brunching in Assinie
🥂 Enjoying the vibrant nightlife in Abidjan
💠 Batik printing class in Accra
🫣 Canopy walking at Kakum National Park @kakumpark
🖼️ Admiring the artwork at Dream Space Gallery @dreamspacecnx
🤍 Visiting Cape Coast Castle & naming ceremony at the Assin Manso Ancestral Slave Grounds
✨ Exploring Bangkok cuisine & nightlife
🏊🏼‍♀️ Luxuriating in my private pool on Koh Samui
🏙️ Touring the gorgeous architecture & sites in Kuala Lumpur
🧵 Mandala making class with @fann.art.therapie in Singapore
🪻 Wandering around the Singapore Botanic Gardens

A few my favorite images from my time at the @singaporebotanicgardens are now available as prints through @blackwomenphotographers’ annual print sale 🌿

I spent this past spring wandering these gardens for a few hours with my camera, captivated by the light, textures, and quiet beauty of nature found around every corner 🌺

Ms. Ginger 1️⃣ The Garden Above 4️⃣ and Hey Hoyas 7️⃣ capture some of what drew me in on that beautiful day. I’m honored to share these with you as part of this year’s sale

The print sale runs until Jan 5th, and every purchase directly supports and uplifts the BWP community. These prints make beautiful holiday gifts for the plant and art lovers in your life 🎁

Senegal 🇸🇳 • March 2025

Feels like just yesterday we were sailing Lake Retba (Pink Lake), visiting the Bandia wildlife reserve, enjoying lunch on the water in Somone, and touring the hallowed grounds on Gorée Island.

It’s AOTAD season again & I’m showcasing my photo, Maison des Esclaves, that I created while visiting Goreé Island last year. It’s hard to believe this is my 8th year as a participating artist for 29th Annual Art of the African Diaspora exhibition, and I’m reminded that the community and creativity I experience every year is the best reward!

Now through March 14, you can visit the gallery for FREE to view and patronize all of the 150+ talented Black artists across the Bay Area participating in the exhibit. It’s the perfect stop on your itinerary for Super Bowl LX, Black History Month, or Women’s History Month!

Medium: Framed photo print
Size: 16” x 24”
Price: $725

Visit the Richmond Art Center at 2540 Barrett Avenue, Richmond, CA 94804

Gallery Hours: Wednesday-Saturday, 10am-4pm
