The total solar eclipse from today, April 8 2024, shot from the roof of the Kirkwood Observatory. It was totality awesome! (Sorry, had to)

Welcome Week activities are well underway at #indianauniversity and while covering the Freshman Induction Ceremony this morning, I stumbled across this backdrop set up for family photos… This is a photo I took of the Sample Gates around this time last year! Pretty crazy to see it all blown up and used at official IU events. See y’all on campus! taken in Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall by @visualsbyvavrek

Been a while since I’ve posted any of my work so let’s change that! Here are some of my favorite pics from the IU men’s basketball game vs. Rutgers on February 7th, 2023. I haven’t attended many IUBB games in the past and every time I cover one I am reminded why Hoosier pride is such a big deal in this town. It was a packed Assembly Hall and fans were going absolutely buck wild for our team. You can really feel the electricity in the room. Tons of fun covering games like these! #iu #hoosiers #hoosiernation #basketball #sportsphotography taken in Bloomington, Indiana by @visualsbyvavrek

One more bird pic for now… A brown thrasher chillin on a tree branch. Had a hard time with foreground blur on this one but otherwise a cool shot! Shot on a Canon R6. taken in Clear Creek Trail by @visualsbyvavrek

Another bird pic from last weekend 🌞 here we have a robin with a snack. Gorgeous framing here and I’m lucky to have caught a small bit of blue sky in the background. Shot on a Canon R6 with a 70-200mm f/2.8 L lens taken in Clear Creek Trail by @visualsbyvavrek

This is a photo of a tree swallow I captured yesterday while walking on the Clear Creek Trail in Bloomington, IN. I think this is the first photo I’ve ever taken of a bird mid-flight. I’m super proud of it, quite possibly my favorite photo I’ve ever taken! Tree swallows are the coolest birds. Shot on a Canon R6 with a 70-200mm f/2.8 L lens. More bird pics to come 🤠 taken in Clear Creek Trail by @visualsbyvavrek

I’ve recently ventured into the weird and controversial realm of NFTs. I created and now “own” 6 pieces that I intend to auction off in early 2022 via OpenSea. The photo in this post is my most recent creation, titled “Facing God.”

Most of these were created in Procreate with some elements created in Photoshop and Cinema 4D.

I will make another announcement once these are up for auction. Link to view the rest is opensea.io/Jimbo_V

Posting a lil something different… Abstract self-portrait while messing with some long-exposure & light painting. Tons of fun and has opened the flood gates to other ideas 👾 #canonphotography #eosr6 #selfportrait #lightpainting #longexposure by @visualsbyvavrek
