Wild Thursday - checking-in

She looks down and asks “are you ok tho?”

Close look at my giraffe watercolor - those watery big eyes are why I spent 2 hours just on the eyes. I painted it from my view point but I live for the eyes.

Watercolor on paper, top-down view.

What do you think she’s thinking? Mine: “you’ve been strong for too long, bestie.”

Follow me and comment OKAY and I’ll DM you this as a wallpaper.

Are those eyebrows real? 🥸

This is a Bernese Mountain Dog eye study, drawn with Pentel oil pastel on 250gsm kraft paper.

I love how the kraft paper texture makes his tired, soulful eyes pop. Those orange dots above his eyes aren’t fur mistakes - they’re his natural eyebrow markings. It’s how Berners talk to us.

Close look at the eyes, and you can see he’s judging me for being late on his walk.

What do you think he’s saying? Tell me below.

He knows it all~

He heard it and he says it😂

My bestie’s parrot ear-dropped all our girls’ talks.

And he will repeat the hightlights. 😂

POV: Your macaw heard you say you’re going to work, but you actually went for coffee.

Tag a parrot owner who lives with a gossip. 🦜

Watercolor on 180gsm — layering blues and greens to keep the eye sharp.

Hybrid animal artist explained - 3/3

I paint animals with stories and the ones I met.

Story 1: Ying Ying from Ocean Park @hkoceanpark
After my white cats turned grey (2/3), I fixed it on kraft paper. Ying Ying’s white is just WHITE 🤍 Oil pastel, no masking

Story 2: 18yrs old Yorkie on wheels ♿️
18 years old, on wheels and napkins, still going. Still happy with his daily life.

Story 3: Black Schnauzer
My most favourited piece. Full black fur, Black is just black. Strokes with pentel pastel.

I don’t paint commissioned pets. I paint stories.

Which story hits you most? 1, 2 or 3?

Hybrid animal artist explained - 2/3

Why I switched from watercolor to oil pastel

My white cats & polar bears always turned muddy grey in watercolor when I added shadows 😩

Then I tried Ying Ying from Ocean Park on kraft paper. Oil pastel = white is just WHITE 🤍

No masking, only strokes

It worked so well that I kept going for painting other animals.

EP3 tomorrow: Ying Ying is the first of my animals with stories. I don't paint commissioned pets, I paint stories 🎋

What brings me to paint animals? It is painting white dot that brings them alive 🤍, it is healing

My therapy starts when the Koi box clicks open. That final white dot is everything.
