Three years ago, it was Venus Day.
Friday the 13th.
Marigolds were everywhere. An ofrenda for our ancestors, bellies full of wedding soup, a family slumber party, and three days of celebrating a love that has always felt like an extension of who we are.

I think about those days often. How much of us was woven into every part of it, how we made a marriage that felt less like a performance and more like a remembering. Of where we come from, what we believe in, and what we want to carry forward.

And now, here we are. Dancing in the kitchen, living the life we once gathered everyone we love to celebrate.

There is something so sacred about getting to grow alongside the person you love. To keep meeting each other in new seasons, to be held through the hard ones, and to find that the magic was never just in the ceremony. It was always in the life waiting for us afterward.

For a long time, I was living a life I didn’t recognize, trying to find my footing while everything familiar was changing.

Grief has a way of making the world feel very small. You get quiet. You turn inward. You do what you can with what you have, and sometimes that’s all there is to give.

I’m beginning to feel the space around me again. To notice the little things. To feel joy without having to reach for it. To understand that I can miss what was and still be grateful for what is.

I don’t have a neat ending for this chapter. Just a lot more tenderness for myself than I had when I was in the thick of it.

And a quiet kind of gratitude for the life that kept meeting me, even when I didn’t quite know how to meet it back. ✨ by @vmariie.switch
