Wellness becomes meaningful when it moves beyond a moment and becomes a way of noticing how we live.

Yesterday at Vogue Wellness Day at METT Singapore , this thought stayed with me:

True wellness begins when we care for our physical, mental, and emotional well-being every day.

The day brought together thoughtful conversations around movement, mindfulness, nutrition, longevity, performance, and the future of wellness.

What I appreciated most was the balance between science, self-awareness, and real human connection. It was a reminder that wellness is not about doing everything perfectly. It is about making small, conscious choices that help us live better. It was inspiring to see wellness presented in such a refined, intelligent, and holistic way.

Rumour has it that the missing VOGUE Singapore Feb 1996 featured one of these two images of supermodel Linda Evangelista on its cover. In Aug 1996, VOGUE Korea chose Linda as their first cover girl - and in Oct 1996, VOGUE Taiwan launched its inaugural issue also with Linda. It’s not unusual for VOGUE to recycle its cover image to another edition. For example, the same image of Naomi Campbell appeared on the cover of VOGUE Singapore (Jan 1997) and VOGUE Korea (Apr 1997) #VOGUESingapore #voguesg

VOGUE Singapore and I

In April 2016, driven by curiosity, I started @voguesg hoping to find all 29 covers: Sept 1994 to Jan 1997. Almost 10 years on, one cover is still missing. The elusive Feb 1996.

Notwithstanding the disappointment, I have not given up. That said, the journey so far has been worthwhile. Full of surprises and beautiful encounters! It has connected me to fashion people from around the world: prominent magazine editors, journalists, photographers and models (too many names to mention).

In April 2018, I was interviewed by @reillyjosephsullivan (FHM Australia, Esquire Middle East) for his piece ‘The story of Vogue Singapore and Asia’s first supermodels’ (FMD). A few months later in July, @weiqi.yap (Vogue Singapore) interviewed me in London for ‘How Vogue Singapore insidiously entered and left our fashion media scene’ (Medium).

In March 2020, while I was on a stopover in Singapore, journalist Marcus Yang reached out to me for his piece ‘@vogueSG and I chat Vogue Singapore’ (Medium). In Sept 2022, a Filipino journalist Charlize Mendez Legaspi @misscharlize cited me in her article ‘Maidens of Asian Vogues’ (Business Mirror).

My quest began as a simple hobby - and to see it snowball into something bigger is surreal and amazing. Life is indeed full of surprises. I still hope to find that Feb 1996 issue of Vogue Singapore one day. Fingers crossed! 💖 taken in London, United Kingdom by @voguesg
